Establish a Steering Committee to prepare for the operation of Long Thanh Airport.

The Ministry of Transport has just issued a decision to establish a Steering Committee for the preparation of operations at Long Thanh International Airport.

The Steering Committee is chaired by a leader of the Ministry of Transport , with the Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (Permanent Vice-Chairman), the General Director of the Vietnam Airports Corporation, and representatives from various departments of the Ministry of Transport such as the Department of Transport Infrastructure, Transport, Enterprise Management, and the Department of Investment and Construction Management.

The Steering Committee members include representatives from: Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM); Southern Aviation Authority; the Immigration Department - Ministry of Public Security; the General Department of Customs - Ministry of Finance; and the People's Committee of Dong Nai province.

The Steering Committee for the preparation of Long Thanh International Airport's operation is responsible for resolving difficulties and obstacles between agencies during the coordination process of preparing for the airport's operation.

The Steering Committee is responsible for coordinating inter-agency efforts to resolve issues arising during the preparation for the operation of Long Thanh International Airport; it will preside over and coordinate the overall preparation for the operation of Long Thanh International Airport, including directing the testing of operational activities and the handover of airport operations, ensuring that when put into operation, it is unified, synchronized, continuous, and efficient.

The Steering Committee is also responsible for resolving difficulties and obstacles between agencies and units during the coordination of port operation preparation. In addition, it directs and monitors important aspects of port operation preparation and handover, ensuring progress, key timelines, transparency, and accountability of all relevant agencies and units.

Promptly propose and recommend to the competent authorities and the Task Force for the Long Thanh International Airport Construction Investment Project, as stipulated in Decision No. 401/2023 of the Prime Minister, to consider and resolve issues that fall outside their jurisdiction.

The Steering Committee operates under a system that emphasizes the personal responsibility of its head, who is responsible for reporting to the Minister on the Committee's activities on a monthly basis and on an ad hoc basis as requested by the Minister.

Previously, following his inspection of the Long Thanh airport construction site on December 3rd, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh instructed the Ministry of Transport to establish a Steering Committee to prepare for the airport's operation, in order to provide overall direction and coordination to maximize the project's effectiveness.
