Ly Hai's "Lat mat 8: Vong tay nang" is becoming one of the most talked about films during the April 30 holiday. Like every year, Ly Hai's work quickly created a fever even though it has not officially premiered yet.
According to data from the crew, in just the first few days of opening for sale, Lat Mat 8 recorded a number of pre-ordered tickets that far exceeded expectations, reaching 131,000 tickets - equivalent to a revenue of 10.6 billion VND.
With this achievement, Ly Hai's latest film continues to set the record of "Vietnamese film with the highest number of pre-sale tickets of all time". This is a dream number for any project, recognizing the efforts of the crew, and also affirming the brand's appeal that has been built over nearly a decade.
Belonging to the psychological and family genre, Lat mat 8: Vong tay nang is a story about the difference in views between three generations of grandparents, parents and children when the main character named Tam pursues his ambition to become a singer while his family objects.
The film brings a journey of healing, hoping that the warm story will lessen the generation gap and also be a slice of life of the people in the sunny and windy Central region.
After the early screening of Lat mat 8: Vong tay nang in Ho Chi Minh City on the evening of April 26, not only the cast but also many artists, guests and audiences walked out of the theater with red and swollen eyes. Director Ly Hai said that he was very nervous before because he did not know if his story could touch the viewers' emotions or not.
"When I saw many viewers cry 2-3 times, some cried 3-4 times, I really broke down. People said they saw themselves in the story," he said.
Many viewers commented that Lat mat 8 not only conquers the eyes with beautiful frames but also evokes many emotions. Each character, each story touches a hidden corner of the viewer's soul, making them cry with sympathy.
Ly Hai confided: “Everyone has a family with different stories. Some are supported, some are not. But the silent sacrifice of a father, sometimes different from the sacrifice of a mother, is something that easily touches every generation. I believe that every audience watching the film will find their own image in it.”
Aimed at the general public, Ly Hai’s films are praised for their entertainment, ease of viewing, and humane stories. The filmmaker chose to focus his lens on the lives of workers, who were grocery store workers, fishermen, farmers, factory owners, etc., contributing to creating a diverse and familiar picture.
Ly Hai once said, “I have to learn every day to avoid falling behind and standing still. Young people have many ideas and energy, and I have to learn from them. If I don’t learn, I will become old.”
The director is not only a filmmaker who knows how to cater to the tastes, but also one who knows how to absorb, adjust and upgrade the product after each part. He persistently makes films to respond to the trust of the audience, which is what makes the professionals have to look back with respect.
Lat mat 8: Vong tay nang brings together a cast of veteran actors such as Meritorious Artist Kim Phuong, Meritorious Artist Huu Chau, Meritorious Artist Tuyet Thu, Meritorious Artist Chieu Xuan... to young actors such as Doan The Vinh, Hong Thu, Tin Nguyen, Bao Ngoc.
