BPO - With the motto of putting the people at the center and as the main actors in building new rural areas, after achieving the standard in 2020, Nha Bich commune, Chon Thanh town, continues to mobilize resources from the whole society to invest in infrastructure, cultural institutions, and build model residential areas to complete advanced new rural areas by 2024. To date, Nha Bich commune has achieved 20 out of 20 criteria. The locality will hold a ceremony to receive the advanced new rural area standard on April 30th, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of national reunification.

The people benefit

The road in Hamlet 7, Village 5, Nha Bich Commune, which was previously only 6 meters wide, has now been upgraded to 8-10 meters, creating favorable conditions for people's travel, trade, and economic development. Mr. Doan Van Hiep and other households in the village are delighted with the achievements of the advanced New Rural Development program. According to Mr. Hiep, the people's contributions in the past have now paid off. "The people are happy because the road is wider, there are streetlights at night, security cameras, and the security and order situation is stable," Mr. Hiep shared.

The working group conducted a field assessment of several criteria in the construction of advanced new rural areas in Nha Bich commune, Chon Thanh town.

According to Mr. Le Sy Que, Head of Hamlet 5, during the four years of implementing the advanced new rural development program, the people of Hamlet 5 contributed more than 500 million VND to upgrade and expand over 1km of concrete road, creating connectivity between groups within the hamlet and other hamlets in the area.

With the motto of putting the people first, the implementation of the advanced new rural development program has focused on improving the material and spiritual lives of the people. Mr. Nguyen Van Chung in Suoi Ngang hamlet, Nha Bich commune, is delighted to benefit from the projects brought about by the advanced new rural development program. In particular, the hamlet's cultural center has been built in a spacious and well-equipped manner, providing exercise equipment for people to improve their health. "Around 5-6 pm, many people come out to exercise. There are about 15 pieces of exercise equipment here, but sometimes we still need more," Mr. Chung shared.

"The village cultural center is more than 1km from my house, but I still occasionally ask my grandchildren to take me there to exercise," said Mrs. Le Thi Ranh (80 years old) from Suoi Ngang hamlet, happily.

“Six out of seven hamlets in the commune have been equipped with outdoor fitness equipment at their cultural centers, totaling 60 exercise machines, ensuring that people have a place to exercise thanks to funding from the 2024 advanced new rural development program. The commune's Cultural and Sports Center has also been equipped with 20 pieces of outdoor fitness equipment to meet the exercise needs of the people,” said Mr. Le Van Phuong, Vice Chairman of the Nha Bich Commune People's Committee.

The fruits of consensus

According to the Party Secretary of Thieu Hong Tuan commune, Nha Bich commune has initially benefited from advanced new rural development, including: the entire commune's road system has been upgraded and improved; two residential areas have been recognized as model areas; all hamlet cultural centers are well-built and have sufficient space as per regulations; cooperatives maintain stable operations and have OCOP products; two schools achieved national standard level 1 in 2023; the electricity grid, lighting, broadcasting, internet, and mobile phone coverage are widespread; digital transformation has yielded positive results; and the staff and civil servants are capable and experienced…

On March 19, 2025, the provincial People's Committee's assessment team conducted an evaluation of Nha Bich commune, Chon Thanh town, for its achievement of advanced new rural standards in 2024.

“The achievements of the advanced new rural development program in Nha Bich commune have comprehensively transformed the cultural and spiritual lives of the people,” affirmed Thieu Hong Tuan, Secretary of the Commune Party Committee. To implement the advanced new rural development program, from the beginning of 2024, the Commune Party Committee issued a specialized resolution on leading the implementation of the program. The Commune People's Committee coordinated the organization of a deployment conference and assigned specific tasks to each member responsible for the criteria. A coordination regulation and a regular reporting system were also established. Throughout the implementation process, the consensus of the people was a crucial factor in enabling the Nha Bich Commune Party Committee and government to complete the advanced new rural development program despite the many difficulties currently faced.

The total resources mobilized for the construction of advanced new rural areas in Nha Bich commune during the 2021-2024 period exceeded 113.6 billion VND. To date, the commune has 39.7km of asphalt roads, 32.7km of cement concrete roads, and 10km of gravel-paved and hardened field roads. Schools have been invested in and are well-equipped to meet national standards; over 95% of the people participate in health insurance. Average income reaches 84 million VND/person/year. By the end of 2024, Nha Bich commune will have achieved 20 out of 20 criteria for advanced new rural areas.
