The welcoming ceremony for Indonesian President Joko Widodo's state visit to Vietnam was held with great solemnity, according to the highest protocol reserved for heads of state. President Vo Van Thuong presided over the ceremony, and a 21-gun salute sounded to the national anthems of both countries.
Following the welcoming ceremony, the two leaders held talks, witnessed the signing of documents, and met with the press. It is expected that today, the Indonesian President will also meet with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue; and together with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, meet with a number of prominent businesses from Vietnam and Indonesia.
During the visit, President Vo Van Thuong and the Indonesian President attended a martial arts performance at the Quan Ngua Sports Palace.
