Attending the event were Mr. Lam Van Man, Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Chairman of the National Assembly's Ethnic Council ; Mr. Dong Van Thanh, Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the City People's Council; leaders of departments and agencies, along with the armed forces and people of the city.
The ceremony began with the ritual of releasing a large, five-colored flag, symbolizing the spirit of unity and reverence for the roots of the people of Southern Vietnam, adding a highlight to the Hung King Temple relic site on the Ancestor Commemoration Day.

Following the flag-lowering ceremony, in a solemn atmosphere, with all gratitude and reverence, delegates and citizens of the city offered gifts including: fresh flowers, sticky rice, a palanquin carrying 18 banh chung (square sticky rice cakes) and 18 banh giay (round sticky rice cakes) symbolizing the 18 generations of Hung Kings; a palanquin carrying five fruits from Southern Vietnam; and offerings from various localities, and incense to commemorate the Hung Kings - the ancestors who founded the first state of Vietnam.
At the ceremony, Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen, Chairman of the People's Committee of the city, emphasized that the Hung Kings Commemoration Day has long been a common festival of the entire Vietnamese nation, an opportunity for us to recall the tradition of nation-building and national defense of our ancestors; to remind each other to practice the principle of "drinking water, remembering the source," to strengthen national solidarity, and to strive to protect the achievements that our ancestors have created.

On behalf of the Party Committee, the government, the military, and the people of the city, the Chairman of the People's Committee respectfully reports to the spirit of the National Ancestor Hung Vuong the achievements in the socio -economic development of the locality.
Accordingly, in 2025, the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sector is projected to grow by 3.8%; the industry and construction sector by 8%; and the service sector by 8.8%. The size of the economy will continue to expand, estimated at 306,170 billion VND. The average GRDP per capita is estimated at 94.94 million VND/person/year. Cultural and social fields will be prioritized; social security will be implemented promptly; and the material and spiritual lives of the people will be improved. In the first months of 2026, the city's socio-economic development is expected to proceed according to the planned direction.

The Chairman of the City People's Committee stated that in 2026, all levels, sectors, and people of the city will seize opportunities, overcome challenges, and create significant changes right from the first year of implementing the Resolution of the First City Party Congress, term 2025-2030. Party committees at all levels should promptly implement and concretize the City Party Committee's Resolution on tasks for 2026 with 28 targets and 4 groups of key tasks and solutions to effectively lead, direct, and organize implementation; striving and determined to overcome difficulties and aiming to achieve a growth target of 10% or more in 2026...

With profound respect and gratitude for the merits of the Hung Kings and our ancestors who contributed to the founding and preservation of the nation, before the sacred spirits of the Hung Kings, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City pledges to unite, uphold the spirit of independence, self-reliance, and self-strength; resolutely protect the integrity of our beautiful land, preserve the legacy created by our ancestors; work together to build a more prosperous and happy nation; and develop Can Tho into an increasingly rich, beautiful, modern, and civilized homeland.

In Can Tho City, the Hung King Temple is a significant landmark, symbolizing national unity and solidarity, a cultural and spiritual focal point, and a sacred connection to the Hung King Temple in the ancestral land, representing the North-South lineage. It fulfills the aspirations and religious needs of filial descendants in worshipping their ancestors, and connects the network of historical and cultural relics and scenic spots in the Mekong Delta, serving the educational and sightseeing needs of visitors. Since its opening in 2022, the Hung King Temple has welcomed hundreds of thousands of visitors annually for worship, incense offerings, and remembrance.
