80th Anniversary of the Founding of the Armed Forces of Vinh Long Province

On the morning of August 22, the Party Committee and Military Command of Vinh Long province solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the provincial armed forces.

Attending the ceremony were comrades: Tran Van Ron - Member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Deputy Head of the Central Inspection Committee ; Ngo Chi Cuong - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee; Ho Thi Hoang Yen - Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Lu Quang Ngoi - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Major General Huynh Van Ngon - Deputy Political Commissar of Military Region 9; leaders, former leaders of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province; heroic Vietnamese mothers, heroes of the People's Armed Forces, leaders of the provincial armed forces through the periods.

Delegates reviewed together the glorious tradition through 80 years of construction, fighting and growth of the Armed Forces of Vinh Long province (August 26, 1945 - August 26, 2025), Tra Vinh province (August 28, 1945 - August 28, 2025), Ben Tre province (February 12, 1946 - February 12, 2026), now Vinh Long province.

80 years ago, when the whole country was seething with the spirit of fighting for national independence, in the lands of Vinh Long, Tra Vinh, Ben Tre, the Republican Guards, National Salvation Army, and Suicide Squad, the predecessors of the provincial armed forces, were born. From the early days with bare feet and bare hands, the provincial armed forces grew up in the fire of war, writing glorious pages of history with blood and courage.

Over the past 80 years, the provincial armed forces have always been absolutely loyal to the Party, closely attached to the people, steadfastly sticking to the land and people, fighting creatively, and achieving many glorious feats.

Proud of its tradition, the Vinh Long Provincial Armed Forces entered a new period of development with firm belief, high determination and great responsibility before the Party, the People and the Fatherland. The Provincial Armed Forces have gradually promoted the building of a disciplined, elite and modern force in the direction of "refined, compact and strong"; built a solid defense area, associated with the people's hearts and minds, ensuring timely handling of all defense and security situations from the grassroots level.

Speaking at the ceremony, Comrade Lu Quang Ngoi - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee praised and acknowledged the outstanding achievements of the provincial armed forces and affirmed: The merger of Vinh Long, Tra Vinh and Ben Tre provinces into the new Vinh Long province is a major policy of the Central Government to streamline the apparatus, improve the effectiveness and efficiency of state management and reorganize the armed forces in the direction of unity, strong organization, compact force, flexible posture. Thereby, raising the level of local armed forces is both a challenge requiring political mettle, solidarity, initiative, creativity and high determination of the entire political system.

Therefore, the provincial armed forces must continue to thoroughly grasp and implement the Party's viewpoints and policies on national defense and security. Build a national defense foundation associated with an increasingly solid people's security posture. Proactively reorganize the force after the merger, ensure organizational stability, unity of command, and avoid interruption of tasks.

Improve the quality of training, drills, and combat readiness. At the same time, promote the qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers, closely connect with the people, actively participate in socio-economic development movements, contributing to building Vinh Long homeland to become increasingly rich, beautiful, civilized, and affectionate.
