After updating to macOS Tahoe 26.2, MacBooks automatically turn on their backlights during video calls.

Apple has just released macOS Tahoe 26.2 with a series of minor upgrades that address the practical needs of Mac users. The most notable new feature is Edge Light, which allows the MacBook to automatically "illuminate" itself during video calls in low-light environments.
Instead of requiring users to purchase an additional ring light, Apple utilizes the Mac's screen itself to create a soft light source that shines directly onto the face. When activated, a bright border appears around the image and automatically adjusts its intensity to avoid glare.
Edge Light dims when the user interacts with the mouse or keyboard, minimizing interference with the content displayed on the screen. This feature is especially useful for impromptu online meetings, quick FaceTime calls, or working in the evening. In addition, macOS Tahoe 26.2 adds emergency reminders to Reminders, improves Podcasts, and refines the gaming experience on Mac.
While not flashy with technology, this update shows that Apple remains true to its philosophy of improving the user experience through small but effective details. Readers are invited to watch the following video: Iris scanning tool to verify human identity | VTV24
