The Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX) and the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange (HoSE) have announced their trading holiday schedule for the 2024 New Year's Day.

Stock market holiday schedule for New Year's Day 2024

The Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX) and the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange (HoSE) have announced their trading holiday schedules for the 2024 New Year's Day.

Accordingly, stock trading will be suspended on Monday (January 1, 2024), in accordance with the Labor Code. Stock trading will resume as normal from Tuesday (January 2, 2024).

Securities transactions with a T+2 settlement cycle executed on December 28, 2023 and December 29, 2023 will be settled on January 2, 2024 and January 3, 2024, respectively.

Securities transactions with a T+1 settlement period executed on December 29, 2023 will be settled on January 2, 2024.

Therefore, according to the announced New Year's Day holiday schedule for 2024, the stock market will be closed on Monday (January 1, 2024) and will resume normal trading on Tuesday (January 2, 2024).

Announcement regarding the holiday schedule for securities transactions during the Lunar New Year (Year of the Dragon) 2024.

Based on Official Letter No. 2780/UBCK-PTTT dated May 13, 2022, from the State Securities Commission regarding the announcement of the 2024 trading holiday schedule, and in accordance with the Labor Code, the Vietnam Securities Depository Center (VSD) announces the 2024 securities transaction settlement holiday schedule as follows:

(1) New Year's Day 2024: Trading closed on Monday, January 1, 2024

(2) Lunar New Year 2024: Trading will be suspended from Thursday, February 8, 2024 (December 29, 2023 Lunar Calendar) until the end of Wednesday, February 14, 2024 (5th day of Lunar New Year), with a 7-day holiday according to the corresponding Labor Code.

Therefore, the stock market will resume trading after the Lunar New Year holiday in 2024 on Thursday (February 15, 2024).

Announcement of the Lunar New Year holiday schedule for 2024: 7 consecutive days off.

Notice No. 5015/TB-LĐTBXH dated November 22, 2023, regarding Lunar New Year and National Day holidays in 2024 for officials, civil servants, public employees, and workers.

Specifically, officials, civil servants, and employees of administrative agencies, public service organizations, political organizations, and socio-political organizations will have a Lunar New Year holiday in 2024 from Thursday, February 8, 2024, to Wednesday, February 14, 2024.

This holiday period includes 5 days of Lunar New Year holiday and 2 days of compensatory leave for weekly days off as stipulated in Clause 3, Article 111 of the Labor Code.

For employees not falling under the above categories, employers may choose the following options for Lunar New Year 2024 leave: either 1 day at the end of the Year of the Rabbit and 4 days at the beginning of the Year of the Dragon, or 2 days at the end of the Year of the Rabbit and 3 days at the beginning of the Year of the Dragon, or 3 days at the end of the Year of the Rabbit and 2 days at the beginning of the Year of the Dragon.

- Announce the Lunar New Year holiday schedule for 2024 to employees at least 30 days before implementation.

- If the weekly day off coincides with a public holiday as stipulated in Clause 1, Article 112 of the Labor Code, the employee is entitled to a compensatory day off on the next working day as stipulated in Clause 3, Article 111 of the Labor Code.

- Employers are encouraged to apply the same Lunar New Year holiday schedule for employees as for civil servants and public employees.
