Aptitude test schedule of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education

In 2024, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education will organize three capacity assessment exams, one more than last year, for admission consideration.

On the afternoon of January 23, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Trung, Vice Principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, said that the school's three capacity assessment exams will be held in March and May. The format and content of the exam will remain the same as in 2023.

"Thanks to the branch in Long An , this year the school opened an additional exam session in this province, so that candidates in the Mekong Delta region can easily access the exam," Mr. Trung explained. This exam score will be combined with the academic transcript score for admission, expected to account for about 40% of the total quota. The specific quota for other methods will be announced later.

The Ho Chi Minh City University of Education's specialized aptitude test consists of 6 tests: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Literature, and English. The score for each test will be converted to a 10-point scale.

Candidates take the test on the computer. The Math, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology tests last 90 minutes, with 50 questions, including 35 multiple-choice questions and 15 short answer questions. The Literature test consists of 20 multiple-choice questions and a social essay, with similar test times. The English test lasts 180 minutes with four parts: Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing.

The exam follows the general education program, in which the knowledge of grade 12 accounts for about 70-80%, the rest is knowledge of grades 10 and 11. Candidates can register for one or more exams, depending on their needs and admission combinations.

This exam is open to all 11th and 12th graders and those who want to take the exam, not just 12th graders.

In 2023, the Ho Chi Minh City University of Education's competency assessment exam will have about 4,400 candidates participating, double that of 2022. The admission score of the combined high school transcript score and competency assessment exam score ranges from 15.63 to 28.11 points.

Also since last year, this exam has been recognized by 6 other pedagogical schools, using the results for admission, including: Hanoi Pedagogical University, Hanoi Pedagogical University 2, and pedagogical schools under Thai Nguyen University, Hue University, Da Nang University and Vinh University.

The whole country currently has about 10 exams to assess capacity and thinking, including: Hanoi National University, Ho Chi Minh City National University, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Hanoi Pedagogical University, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Ho Chi Minh City Pedagogical University, Vietnam-Germany University, Saigon University, Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City and schools under the Ministry of Public Security .
