On the evening of September 12, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front posted 12,028 pages of statements of donations to people affected by storm No. 3 (super typhoon Yagi). This list details the date, amount, and transaction content of the people.
Many social media users have spent time "checking var" (checking) the information in the statement list, from transactions of a few thousand dong to hundreds of millions of dong. In more than 12,000 statement pages, netizens noticed an account transferring 10,000 dong to support the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the transaction content was "collective support from the Central Circus".
'Check VAR' statements: The bragging is both funny and thoughtful
Immediately after that, social networks appeared with many conflicting opinions about this. Many people were surprised, criticized, and mocked the fact that the Central Circus only donated 10,000 VND to flood victims. However, others said that this was not necessarily accurate information because the transfer content could have been written by individuals.

Talking to Thanh Nien , People's Artist Tong Toan Thang, Director of the Vietnam Circus Federation, said that he is currently on a business trip abroad but has information related to the "10,000 VND" statement allegedly from the Circus Federation that is spreading on social networks. Mr. Thang was indignant: "Currently, the entire agency is focusing on supporting 1 day's salary according to the Trade Union of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. We are not transferring to any personal account. I am also sending an official dispatch to the Vietnam Fatherland Front requesting information about the account that sent the donation. Because this is an attempt to defame the honor of the Federation."
Meanwhile, Mr. Nguyen Danh Hoang Viet, Chief of Office and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, also said that he had contacted the Vietnam Circus Federation. Information showed that the Federation did not send money on its own initiative but transferred it to the Ministry's trade union. Mr. Viet said that the Ministry will send an official dispatch today to relevant units. "The whole country is supporting people affected by floods, we cannot let that affect our spirit," Mr. Viet said.
Not only the Vietnam Circus Federation, many units and some artists also encountered similar situations when individuals transferred money to support the Vietnam Fatherland Front but left the transfer content making viewers "half-crying, half-laughing".
In addition, netizens also "checked" the statements of influential people on social networks who took advantage of supporting people in flood-hit areas to polish their names. Many cases posted pictures showing off tens and hundreds of millions of VND in support for people affected by Typhoon Yagi, but in fact, they were just "living a virtual life" by editing the photos to add a few zeros, and the actual number on the statement was different. This is making netizens angry, expressing disappointment with the actions and thoughts of these individuals when they deliberately took advantage of charity and the difficult circumstances of others to polish their names on social networks.
