Mrs. Trang, Kieu's mother, met her biological son Kien again after more than 20 years apart, but in front of Kieu, they still pretended not to know each other. More than 20 years ago, Mrs. Trang left her husband and children to follow another man in the city. She did not care about Kien running after the car, crying loudly, but still decided to leave.
After leaving, Ms. Trang became the wife of a rich man. One day, her ex-husband - Kien's father - came to the city and stopped Ms. Trang's car to ask about Kieu, the daughter that Ms. Trang was raising with her new husband. Seeing the birthmark on Kieu's leg that resembled his, he suspected that Kieu was his biological daughter, because Ms. Trang was pregnant before leaving.
However, that year, Mrs. Trang denied everything: "My life with you is already miserable enough, now do you want Kieu to suffer too?" She asked him to return to his hometown and never bother her and her child again.
Seeing his mother again, old memories flooded back into Kien's mind. The image of his mother who used to complain and criticize his father's poverty reappeared. His mother's words, "First the father, then the son, just looking at his face makes me sick" still haunted Kien for many years.
Kien submitted his project to a company, but was rejected due to lack of data and practical experience. Leaving the company in disappointment, Kien accidentally met Linh - a close friend in the group - who had fallen off her bike. He helped Linh bring the goods home, while Nga was engrossed in livestreaming to sell sunscreen. However, today Nga's livestream had less than 10 viewers, making Linh worried because the goods had been imported but not sold yet, although Nga still tried to appear optimistic.
Mrs. Thu, Hung's mother, reviewed Kien's project and praised it. She encouraged Kien, but from an investor's perspective, she saw that the project had many limitations. Therefore, she introduced Kien to the Uoc Mo Fund. However, because this fund was related to Mrs. Trang, Kien was very hesitant.
Kien sought advice from the woman who owned the house that raised abandoned cats and dogs. She said that if anyone could sponsor the care of the cats and dogs, even if it cost her “a lot of money,” she would gladly accept it. Hearing this, Kien decided to apply to the investment fund of Ms. Trang’s husband’s company.
By chance, Ms. Trang saw Kien's project profile. She called to meet Kien, emotionally saying: "It's been more than 20 years, my son has grown up so fast! I almost didn't recognize you." She said she had looked at the profile and decided to invest as an individual, but with a condition: "Can you go back to your hometown to start a business, or can you go to a new city to start a business, as long as it's as far away from here as possible."
She added: "Your father promised not to disturb your mother's private life. So why did you come to Huong Duong Company?" Kien explained that the Uoc Mo Fund was his only chance to implement the project, but Ms. Trang interrupted: "Or do you want to rely on others? After all, it's all about money, right?"
After that, Mrs. Trang changed the way she addressed Kien, saying "you - me" and gave him money, considering it as payment for his father raising him, and also considering it as her final obligation to her son. Kien choked up at his own mother's insults. He declared: "I will prove to you that I am more than capable of earning this amount of money. I will make you regret it!" and then left.
