The event contributes to commemorating the contributions of the Empress Dowager Vu Thi Ngoc Toan, who made great contributions to society during the Mac Dynasty - values that are still alive in modern life.

This year’s rural market takes place on the occasion of the anniversary of the death of the Queen Mother – the Great Commemoration of the Holy Mother of Mac Dynasty. This is a great spiritual event, not only attracting many descendants of the Mac family and people of Mac origin to attend, but also welcoming a large number of tourists from all over the country and people inside and outside the city.

This year, the Mac Dynasty rural market will take place on a large scale and with many new features. The opening ceremony is expected to take place solemnly, associated with many key activities such as: announcing the decision and receiving the Certificate of special national relic for the Temple of the Mac Dynasty Kings - also known as the Mac Family Temple; receiving the title of Intangible Cultural Heritage for the Mac Dynasty Traditional Wrestling Festival and inaugurating the Mac Family Temple after a period of restoration and renovation.

The number of booths at the market this year is expected to be from 50 to 55, of which 20 will display typical OCOP products of the city. All products are guaranteed in origin and quality, clearly reflecting the cultural characteristics of the region.

During the 5 days of the fair, many traditional art activities will be held: Cheo singing, Chau Van singing, worship singing, traditional musical instrument performances, water puppetry... The programs are arranged in rotation, creating a lively, intimate space, reminiscent of the old community atmosphere.

In particular, the opening and closing nights will be the highlight with a large-scale art program staged by the Hai Phong Traditional Theater. Hundreds of professional actors and artists and descendants of the Mac family will participate in the performance, recreating the unique cultural imprints of the Mac Dynasty.
