About 10 years ago, the yellow tea flower tree was known to some local people, who used it to boil drinking water, but did not know the medicinal value of this plant.

In recent years, traders have sought to buy yellow flower tea at high prices, and people have focused on caring for and propagating yellow flower tea; businesses and cooperatives have boldly invested in and built yellow flower tea into a branded agricultural product on the market.

Nghia Ta Agricultural and Forestry Cooperative is a unit that implements the joint purchase of yellow flower tea in the areas of Cho Don, Nghia Ta, and Yen Phong communes.

Up to now, the cooperative's raw material area has reached about 10 hectares. Ms. Duong Khanh Ly, Director of Nghia Ta Agricultural and Forestry Cooperative, shared: The cooperative focuses on the input material area, ensuring food safety in the processing stage, up to now the cooperative's Golden Flower Tea product has met the provincial 3-star OCOP standard.

In addition to selling Golden Flower Tea products, the Cooperative also produces seedlings, selling them for 15-30 thousand VND/plant. The Cooperative's activities not only create a stable output for Golden Flower Tea products, but also create regular jobs for dozens of local workers.

To ensure sustainable development of yellow flower tea, it is necessary to promote linkages and develop deep processing of products. In 2021, Ha Diep Company Limited invested capital to build a factory and a large-scale processing machinery system.

According to Director Ha Minh Doi, the Company's main products from yellow flower tea are whole flower tea, tea bags, and yellow flower tea wine. Of which, two products, whole flower yellow flower tea and tea bags, have met the 4-star OCOP standard.

Considered the "green gold" of the mountains and forests, currently products made from yellow flower tea cost millions of dong for 1kg of dried flowers.

Before the merger, Bac Kan province (old) identified yellow tea as a key industry, a national medicinal product axis for the period 2020-2025, with a vision to 2035. To achieve this goal, the scientific topic "Research on biological characteristics and techniques for planting and growing yellow tea" was approved.

The topic has determined the current status of distribution, exploitation and use of yellow tea plants as a basis for research and exploitation to develop production; provided some technical measures in cutting yellow tea plants, contributing to perfecting the technical process of propagation.

Through that, people can choose quality seedlings and build a technical care process to gradually expand the scale of raw material areas of this precious tea.
