Creating momentum for OCOP product development
To support OCOP products to affirm their position in the market, the provincial branch of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies (VBSP) provides preferential loans with low interest rates and flexible loan terms, helping many households, businesses, production facilities, and cooperatives invest in equipment, expand production scale, quality, packaging, labels, and brand identity, maintain and develop OCOP products, create jobs for workers, increase income; gradually transform from small scale to production in the direction of value chain linkage, with traceability and according to market demand, contributing to building and developing the OCOP brand, creating an impression on the market.
The OCOP group of natural flower honey in Binh Duong (Bach Dang commune) expanded its honey consumption market after being certified with 3-star OCOP. Through the coordination of introducing and selling products at conferences, events organizing exhibitions of OCOP products, fairs, etc., many customers inside and outside the province know about it, and the consumption output is high. Mr. Hoang Thanh Cu, Head of the OCOP Group, said: From the TDCS capital, the OCOP Group invested in building factories, installing modern machinery and equipment, improving product quality and design, expanding the consumption market, meeting customer needs, increasing revenue and profit. Taking advantage of the TDCS capital not only helps the cooperative group develop the economy but also contributes to preserving and promoting the traditional beekeeping profession of the locality.
Truc Mai mushroom production facility in Thuc Phan ward has effectively accessed preferential capital from the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies. Up to now, the facility has invested in building a factory, fully equipped with advanced machinery and equipment for mushroom cultivation such as: raw material mixer, sawdust grinder, bagging machine, temperature control, deodorizing steamer, dryer, mushroom racks, etc. In particular, it has invested in a cold storage with a capacity of 2 tons to preserve fresh mushrooms and 4 cold rooms with fan and air conditioning systems.
Mr. Do Van Vien, owner of Truc Mai mushroom production facility, said: The facility was established in 2018, producing on a small household scale; in 2021, I borrowed 100 million VND under the job creation program to expand the production facility, import supplies and raw materials. In 2023, seeing the increased market demand, I borrowed an additional 250 million VND to expand the area by over 1 hectare. Each year, the facility supplies the market with 70 - 90 tons of fresh mushrooms, creating regular jobs for 12 workers with an income of 6 - 8 million VND/person/month.
With a clean production process, in 2017, the facility's shiitake mushroom products were certified to meet VietGAP standards. In 2022, Viet Truc Mai Shiitake Mushroom products were certified as 4-star OCOP products. The facility signed contracts with a number of food companies to bring organic shiitake and oyster mushrooms to the supermarket system in the North.
TDCS capital flows become the “key” not only to help production entities have more opportunities to improve production capacity, innovate technology, expand scale, improve product quality, but also promote a change in thinking, from waiting for help to being proactive and positive in economic development. Many quality OCOP products are competitive in the market and highly appreciated by consumers, contributing to bringing OCOP products not only to the domestic market but also towards export to the world market.
