Review of How Much Youth costs episode 7
More than 20 years ago, Kien's mother left her father and son to follow a rich man. However, Kien's father did not blame his ex-wife. He always advised Kien not to blame his mother, saying that everything was because he was poor: "Because I'm so poor, I still want to marry your mother." Kien objected and affirmed that it was not his father's fault. "Don't worry, Dad, I won't let you be humiliated by being poor anymore," Kien said with determination.
Despite being forced to pay a lower price by traders, Kien's father still had to sell fruit in the garden to have money for his son's school fees. Kien felt sorry for his father and did not want to accept the money, but his father still put it in Kien's hand and said: "If you want to escape poverty, you have to go to school."
However, when Kien went to school to pay his tuition, he received a notice that it was overdue and he would have to wait until the next semester to be able to take those subjects.
At night, Kien tossed and turned, unable to sleep, thinking about the poor life of his father and son and about his mother who abandoned them because she thought they were poor. Kien hated his mother, while Kien's father blamed himself for wanting to marry his mother despite being poor. These thoughts put pressure on Kien to make money. He dreamed that he opened a bakery but encountered a situation where customers were not selling and his cart was confiscated.
Kien brought Linh his favorite drink when they made an appointment to study. Kien asked Linh what business she should start if she had 20 million. Linh thought about buying cosmetics to sell or paying tuition, and advised Kien to ask Nga.
In episode 7 of "How much does youth cost?", after losing money selling cosmetics via livestream, Nga decided to go for a job interview and was scheduled to start work the next day. Nga happily told Linh that the company would take new employees to a factory in the suburbs and combine it with camping activities.
The next day, when Nga had already started her new job, the teacher went to the dormitory to warn the students about the recent scam companies. However, Nga was not there, only Linh heard. The teacher said: "Many victims who escaped said that this was actually a prostitution ring, so the target was usually girls." Linh was worried because what the teacher said was exactly the same as the company where Nga had just applied for a job. She quickly called Nga but could not get in touch.
In another development, on the first day of Kieu's internship at her father's company, she was bullied by her superiors, ordered around by her colleagues, and even mocked as a "stepchild." Maybe this was just a challenge that Kieu's father set for his daughter.
