Following the dismissal of coach Branko Ivankovic, the Chinese Football Association (CFA) is urgently searching for a new coach for the national team ahead of the East Asian Championship, which is scheduled to begin in July.

In recent times, the CFA has targeted a number of high-quality coaches such as Shin Tae Yong, Roberto Mancini, and Philippe Troussier. However, Coach Shin Tae Yong has denied any connection with the Chinese national team.
The Chosun newspaper (South Korea) believes that the Chinese Football Association did not choose coach Shin Tae Yong. The newspaper wrote: “Chinese fans probably prefer Philippe Troussier to lead the national team rather than coach Shin Tae Yong. They never liked the idea of a South Korean coach leading the national team.”
Coach Troussier was sacked from the Vietnamese national team after losing three consecutive matches against Indonesia. Although his performance in Vietnam was not good, Coach Troussier had achieved impressive success in other countries, particularly in Japan in the early 2000s.
At that time, Japan had won the 2000 Asian Cup and reached the Round of 16 in the 2002 World Cup. Mr. Troussier had also been involved with Chinese football for quite some time, so he had a good understanding of the sport there.”

In the past, Coach Troussier spent a long time working in China at clubs such as Shenzhen Ruby, Hangzhou Greentown, and Chongqing Liangjiang, so he has a certain understanding of football in that country.
Meanwhile, Roberto Mancini is a renowned strategist in Europe. However, he was unsuccessful in leading the Saudi Arabian national team due to the unfamiliar environment. In the past, the Chinese national team was led by Italian coaches such as Marcelo Lippi and Fabio Cannavaro, but neither was successful.
Furthermore, Coach Mancini's salary demands are quite high. He once received up to $25 million per year when he coached the Saudi Arabian national team. Meanwhile, the Chinese Football Association only pays Coach Ivankovic $2 million per year.
