For the 2025 winter-spring crop season, Luc Yen district planted 3,607.3 hectares out of 3,400 hectares planned, achieving 106.09% of the target (207.3 hectares of rice were planted after the reservoir water receded), with a variety structure consisting of 60% hybrid rice varieties such as: Thai Xuyen 111, Nhi Uu 838, Thuy Huong 308, Nghi Huong 305, Nhi Uu 89, Nhi Uu 69, Viet Lai 20, HKT99... and 40% pure rice varieties such as: BC 15, VNR 20, Bac Thom No. 7, Dai Thom 8, Thien Uu 8, TBR 225, HT1, DD2, HD11 and various glutinous rice varieties.
To ensure a successful spring crop, right from the beginning of the season, the People's Committee of Luc Yen district directed communes and towns to strengthen the dissemination of information on crop structure and planting schedules to farmers. They also directed relevant units to proactively repair and dredge irrigation works and canals to ensure the requirements for rice production; planned for water storage in reservoirs, regulated irrigation water in rotation in areas with readily available water sources, and prepared for drought at the end of the season.
Furthermore, to ensure favorable development of the spring rice crop, Luc Yen district has focused on promoting the dissemination and guidance of scientific and technical measures for rice cultivation at each stage; advising farmers to regularly inspect their fields to anticipate, predict, and detect pests and diseases early, and to take timely control measures for the planted spring rice area.
According to the head of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Luc Yen district, compared to previous years, the 2025 winter-spring crop season had many advantages, with less drought and pest infestations. In particular, the Party committees and local authorities from the district to the grassroots level closely supervised the process; farmers diligently invested in and cared for their crops according to proper technical procedures, and proactively responded to natural disasters. As a result, the entire spring rice crop in Luc Yen district grew and developed well, with no major pest or disease outbreaks.
To date, Luc Yen district has harvested over 1,000 hectares of spring rice, with an estimated yield of 57.7 quintals/hectare; the estimated production is 20,814 tons/19,618 tons, reaching 106.09% of the plan. In some communes such as Muong Lai, Lieu Do, Minh Xuan, Lam Thuong, Mai Son, Vinh Lac, Tan Linh, etc., people have finished harvesting. It is expected that by June 15th, the entire district will have completed harvesting the spring rice crop.
After harvesting the spring rice crop, the District People's Committee will direct the people to focus on cultivating the early summer rice crop on over 1,000 hectares, creating conditions for the 2025 winter crop production on land used for two rice crops. Of this, the early summer crop for the winter crop will account for 35-40% of the total summer crop planting area, planted from June 10th to June 25th, focusing on short-day pure rice varieties such as Thien Uu 8, HT1, and Bac Thom No. 7 (resistant to bacterial blight). The main summer rice crop will account for 60-65% of the total summer crop planting area, planted from June 25th and completed before July 15th, focusing on hybrid rice varieties such as Nhi Uu 838, Viet Lai 20, Thuy Huong 308, Thai Xuyen 111, and pure rice varieties such as Thien Uu 8, Bac Thom No. 7 (resistant to bacterial blight), BC15, VNR20, TBR225, Khang Dan 18, and various glutinous rice varieties.
