Which bank employee salary is the highest?

VietNamNetVietNamNet06/05/2023

According to the individual financial reports of the first quarter of 2023 of 28 commercial banks, salaries and employee allowances mostly increased compared to the same period last year, although the profit growth of many banks decreased compared to the same period. This shows that banks are trying to retain employees through income factors.

Techcombank continues to hold the top position in employee benefits, spending nearly VND1,600 billion on salaries and allowances for employees.

Accordingly, the average income (salary and allowances) is up to 46.46 million VND/month (equal to the same period in 2022 but an increase of 3.4 million VND compared to the average income in 2022). In fact, the average income per employee in the first 3 months of the year is also more than 2 taels of gold.

Even the average income of Techcombank employees is far ahead of the second place of MB bank when the average income of MB employees is 40.20 million VND/month.

Notably, Vietcombank's employee income, which was already among the top, has continued to increase by about 3 million VND/month compared to the average in 2022. Vietcombank's report on employee income in the first quarter of 2023 shows that the average employee income is 38.66 million VND/month.

It is also necessary to mention SHB bank, although it is in the leading group in terms of remuneration, SHB is the only bank that does not separate salary and allowance expenses in the financial statements. Instead, the bank only announces the general expenses for employees (including salary, allowances, social insurance, health insurance, unemployment insurance, uniform expenses, labor protection, etc.).

Therefore, the average expenditure figure of 40 million VND/person/month in the last quarter does not accurately reflect the income level of Mr. Hien's employees.

Employees at TPBank, MSB, VIB, Sacombank, VietinBank and VPBank are also not ashamed to have an average monthly income of 30-34 million VND/person.

Some banks have large bonuses, so the gap between income and salary is relatively clear. For example, at VPBank, the average monthly income of employees is 30.48 million VND/person (the average in 2022 is 27 million VND). Of which, the average monthly salary is 29.42 million VND/person.

Meanwhile, Techcombank employees have an average income of 46.46 million VND, but the salary alone is 38 million VND/month.

The difference between salary and “other income” at PG Bank is also quite large when the average employee income is 28 million VND/month (an increase of 2 million VND compared to the same period), of which the average salary is 19 million VND/month (an increase of 4 million VND compared to the same period).

At VIB, the average income is 32.92 million VND/month (an increase of 3 million VND compared to the same period), while the average salary is 23.64 million VND/month.

At Saigonbank, the average employee income is 21 million VND/month (an increase of 1 million VND compared to the same period), while the average salary is only 14 million VND/month (an increase of 1 million VND compared to the same period).

VietCapitalBank employees' income dropped sharply by more than 6 million VND/month compared to the same period last year, with an average income of 19.14 million VND/month (average salary of 18 million VND/month).

At the bottom of the rankings, ACB continues to be at the bottom when the average income of this bank's employees is only 12.9 million VND/month (an increase of nearly 1 million VND compared to the average level in 2022).

BacA Bank, VietBank, and BaoViet Bank are also banks in the group with the lowest employee income, averaging from 15-17 million VND/person/month.

Some banks are expected to have a breakthrough in employee income this year such as LPBank and ABBank, which also showed a change in the first quarter. At the recent annual meeting, the chairmen of the Board of Directors of these two banks affirmed that increasing employee income is one of the measures to promote the sustainable development of the bank.

In addition to salaries and allowances, banks also pay salary-based contributions as prescribed by law (health insurance, social insurance, unemployment insurance, etc.). In addition, there are other expenses such as: expenses for transaction uniforms, allowances, etc.

Which bank boss receives the 'biggest' salary? The income of bank leaders is an issue of great concern to many people at the Shareholders' Meeting.
