Prepare carefully and be proactive in every situation
With the special feature of managing many hydropower projects, in recent times, VNPD has paid attention to the direction and management of operations. In particular, during the National Day holiday on September 2, 2025, when the whole country joyfully celebrates the great day of the nation, the demand for electricity for daily life, entertainment, production and business increases. This is both a pressure and a responsibility for the electricity industry in general and VNPD in particular. With a proactive spirit, the company has synchronously deployed many solutions, from technical preparation, materials, means to continuous monitoring, to ensure safe and stable electricity.
On this occasion, VNPD requested all affiliated hydropower plants to urgently develop detailed operating plans, focusing on both incident prevention and response scenarios when abnormalities occur. All units are put into periodic inspection and maintenance procedures, ensuring the entire equipment system operates safely and stably.

In parallel, the company also prepares spare materials, equipment, diesel generators, and specialized vehicles to respond to incidents. Each factory has a standby force and 24/7 vehicles, ready to handle even emergency situations, not to be passive in any scenario.
VNPD also pays special attention to the safety of dams and downstream areas. Monitoring and continuously updating weather, hydrology, and water flow to reservoirs are taken seriously, ensuring operations in accordance with the reservoir and inter-reservoir operation procedures. In case of water discharge, the factories coordinate closely with local authorities, promptly inform downstream people, maintain social safety factors, and use multiple channels for people to proactively prevent.
The recent experience from storm No. 3 in Nghe An shows the effective response capacity of VNPD. When Khe Bo Hydropower Plant faced heavy rain and floods, the entire force promptly deployed prevention plans, kept the project safe and maintained continuous power supply.
In particular, during the peak period from September 1 to September 2, all hydropower plants under VNPD implemented a daily reporting regime and assigned leaders to supervise throughout. The units were always ready, meeting the operating method regulated by the National Power System and Electricity Market Operation Company Limited. Not only focusing on technical work, VNPD also strengthened labor safety and fire prevention plans. Fire prevention and fighting systems, rescue and rescue systems, and protective equipment were all reviewed and supplemented to ensure effective operation. Staff and workers on duty were regularly trained and practiced situations to have quick response skills and minimize damage when incidents occurred.

In the context of the tropical depression right after storm No. 5 (Kajiki), moving rapidly into the Central region right before the National Day, VNPD has tightened operational discipline. Subordinate units are required to increase vigilance, comprehensively consolidate disaster prevention measures, thoroughly inspect drainage systems, retaining walls, and auxiliary equipment to both protect the safety of the works and maintain a stable power source for the people. In addition, the coordination between the plant and local authorities and functional forces is also considered important to ensure absolute safety for the downstream area in all situations.
Affirming business reputation
Not only meeting the electricity demand during peak periods, VNPD’s careful preparation also clearly demonstrates the social responsibility of a large electricity company. During major national holidays, when the demand for daily life, entertainment, recreation, and production and business all increase sharply, maintaining a stable electricity supply is a key factor to ensure people’s peace of mind, events are fully organized, and economic and social activities are not interrupted.
With many years of experience in managing and operating large and small hydropower projects, along with a high sense of discipline and responsibility, VNPD has built an effective risk management mechanism, from forecasting natural disasters, technical preparation to incident handling. The image of VNPD engineers and workers staying at the project site day and night, quietly operating machinery, checking the system, and being on duty 24/7 to maintain the power flow is a vivid demonstration of the dedication and commitment of the electricity industry. It is also a vivid manifestation of the spirit of "the current of trust" that VNPD has been building throughout its development journey.

It can be said that ensuring safe and stable power supply on the occasion of National Day September 2 is not only a regular task, but also a challenge to affirm the prestige, brand and stature of VNPD. In complex weather conditions, frequent natural disasters, the greater the challenges, the more clearly the efforts and bravery of the collective of officers, engineers and workers of VNPD are demonstrated. It is this perseverance and responsibility that has contributed to helping people across the country enjoy the holidays with stable, safe electric light, without worrying about interruptions.
This is not only the result of careful preparation, but also a long-term commitment of VNPD: always accompanying the country, ensuring safe and stable electricity supply in all circumstances, for the benefit of the people and for the common development of society.
