Despite facing competitive pressure from composite baskets, some families persevere in preserving the craft, clinging to the soul of the fishing village. Thanks to being made entirely from natural materials and undergoing handcrafted processes, the baskets produced by the local people have been exported to Switzerland and Thailand, and are available in many tourist areas throughout the country.
