On August 4th, Mr. Tran Thanh Dung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ba Ria City, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, announced that the local authorities will enforce land reclamation to expedite the progress of the road project north of Ba Ria Hospital, specifically the section passing through Long Tam ward, Ba Ria City.
The project was approved by the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province on October 31, 2016. The People's Committee of Ba Ria City issued administrative documents regarding land acquisition, compensation, support, and resettlement plans in accordance with the procedures stipulated by law for households affected by the land acquisition for the project. The total area of land to be acquired for the project is over 21,853 m2. The total number of affected households is 11.
Mr. Dung affirmed that the People's Committee of Ba Ria City has approved all compensation and support plans for the 11 cases affected by the project in accordance with the correct procedures; resolving support policies for households whose assets are being expropriated on the land being reclaimed in accordance with regulations, creating favorable conditions for households subject to land clearance to stabilize their lives. The support policies ensure the legitimate rights and interests of the affected households.

To date, 10 households have complied with the land handover regulations, while one household with an area of over 1,173 m2 has yet to hand over the land. To secure the land for the project, the People's Committee of Ba Ria City has established a mobilization team, which has repeatedly met with, held dialogues with, and campaigned to persuade the aforementioned household to comply with the land handover for construction.
However, to date, the household in question has remained uncooperative, refusing to comply and demanding other rights, such as filing complaints to claim benefits beyond those stipulated by the State, and requesting a review of the compensation policy…

To definitively resolve the land acquisition issue and hand over the construction site on schedule, the People's Committee of Ba Ria City issued a decision to forcibly acquire land from Ms. Duong Thi Bi's household (Bac 1 Hamlet, Hoa Long Commune, Ba Ria City).
The enforcement decision has been delivered to the household and publicly posted. Simultaneously, the People's Committee of Ba Ria City has issued a decision establishing a Land Reclamation Enforcement Committee to implement the project; and continues to direct the Mobilization Team to educate and persuade Ms. Bi's household to comply with the handover of the land.
Currently, the People's Committee of Ba Ria City is also developing a plan to forcibly reclaim land to implement the project in accordance with regulations.
