"Tips" for students on how to accelerate in the last month before the high school exam
According to teachers with many years of experience in exam preparation, in this “more precious than gold” final month, students should self-study and review what they have learned in the subjects they are weak in, instead of just practicing test questions. Along with that, set aside a small amount of time during the day (1.5 hours for example) to relieve stress, do what they like, but only during this time…
In just over a month, 12th graders across the country will take their high school graduation exams. This is the final stage, students need to prepare and review appropriately to achieve good results in this important exam.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hung, a Math - IT teacher at Ho Chi Minh City Gifted School, said that the last months are extremely important for candidates before the exam. They need to review basic knowledge and practice multiple choice test-taking skills to achieve the highest possible score. With not much time left, students need to allocate time and build a suitable review plan for themselves to consolidate important knowledge and review knowledge that they still feel they have not mastered according to the announced exam structure.

"In addition, students need to compete with each other to have a learning strategy that suits their abilities, and should not focus too much on parts that are too difficult for their learning ability. At this time, students should prioritize their time for studying, but also need time to rest, eat well, and if they have time, they can play sports to have good health and a comfortable spirit to participate in these important exams. With a comfortable spirit, students will avoid regrettable mistakes when doing the test as well as stay alert to solve problems in the exam" - said teacher Nguyen Thanh Hung.
According to Mr. Doan Tri Dung, a teacher with many years of experience in reviewing high school exams in Hanoi , the last month is the most important month, the month to accelerate to reach the finish line quickly and effectively. However, as the old saying goes, “haste makes waste”, if you do not have a reasonable strategy, you will not be able to achieve the best results.
No matter how busy you are, don't skip your lunch break.
“There are only 24 hours in a day, no matter how excellent the candidate is, they cannot have more than this time. So how to optimize this “more precious than gold” time? First of all, there are 6.5 hours of sleep each day, remember to set an alarm so as not to exceed this time. This includes 6 hours of sleep at night and 30 minutes for a “golden nap at noon”. No matter how busy you are, you must not skip your afternoon nap because this is the time to recover after a morning full of positive energy. And do not sleep after midnight at night, because on the day of the exam, the candidate will have to wake up early. Let's practice this habit gradually from now on” - Mr. Doan Tri Dung shared.
According to Mr. Doan Tri Dung, students have 1.5 hours to relieve stress every day depending on their preferences. Do what you like but only during this time. In particular, know how to "save" it by dividing it into 3 times, each time 30 minutes in the afternoon, evening - before going to bed for example. 2 hours is enough time for you to eat, do personal hygiene and shower.
“Optimize this time, especially during meals, to talk with grandparents, parents, and siblings. A day must have at least 6 hours of self-study, with an emphasis on self-study. You can divide it into 3 subjects, each subject 2 hours a day or 2 subjects each subject 3 hours a day, or a ratio of 3-2-1 or 4-2 if there is a weaker subject and a strong subject that needs adjustment. There are 2 important things to remember. First, you should divide it into 2 review periods during the day. For example, 2 subjects in the morning with 4 hours, 1 subject in the afternoon with 2 hours. 6 hours of self-study is necessary, the minimum. If you don't have enough 6 hours of self-study and just rush into classes, you won't be able to absorb much knowledge" - Mr. Doan Tri Dung shared his experience.
Don't rush into practicing questions.
The second thing, according to Mr. Doan Tri Dung, is to self-study by reviewing what you have learned in the subjects you are weak at, not just practicing the questions. Students often hope that the next question will be better than the previous one, but that will not happen, because "no flour can make glue", you must have a solid knowledge foundation to practice the questions to have a breakthrough.
