Manchester City are very close to signing Antoine Semenyo after agreeing to pay the Bournemouth winger's £65 million release clause. Semenyo is scheduled to undergo a medical with the Etihad Stadium club immediately after Bournemouth's match against Tottenham on January 8th, thus completing the transfer before the end of the week.

Semenyo, 25, is one of Bournemouth's most outstanding attacking players this season. The Ghanaian international has scored 9 goals and provided 3 assists, becoming a key player in manager Andoni Iraola's system. His consistent performance, versatility on both wings, and high work rate have attracted the attention of many big clubs.

Although Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, and Tottenham were all closely monitoring the situation, Manchester City was the only team to submit an official offer to Bournemouth. This decisive move gave the reigning Premier League champions the lead in the race to sign the player born in 2000.

Speaking ahead of the match against Tottenham, manager Iraola admitted that Semenyo's departure from the club was real, even though the deal hadn't been finalized. "I think this could be his last game," the Spanish strategist said. "That's just my personal opinion. Nothing has been agreed upon or signed yet. At this moment, Semenyo is still our player."

Iraola also emphasized the importance of his pupil, stating that Semenyo is an "almost irreplaceable" player in the Bournemouth squad, especially in the middle of the season.

If he passes his scheduled medical examination, Semenyo will become Manchester City's next notable signing in the January transfer window, adding another attacking option to Pep Guardiola's already deep squad.
