Be amazed by the horse paintings of artist Le Ba Dang.

At TAA Gallery (29 Street 103, Cat Lai Ward, Ho Chi Minh City), the exhibition "The Image of Horses in Le Ba Dang's Art" presents to the public more than 70 beautiful and impressive paintings and artifacts of horses, selected from the "Le Ba Dang Heritage Collection" of over 300 works painstakingly purchased and collected in the United States over the past 20 years by collector Tran Thang.

Artist Lê Bá Đảng was born in 1921 in Bích La Đông village (Quảng Trị province). In 1940, he moved to Marseille, France, and later studied painting at the École Des Beaux-Arts in Toulouse. In the 1950s, he began holding his first exhibitions in Paris, Cannes, and surrounding areas, which were warmly received by the public and the press. He discovered lithography in the Arts-Litho studio and frequently visited the studios of renowned artists Fernand Mourlot and Jacques Desjobert. In the 1960s, he elevated lithography by using Japanese pearl paper in his famous series "Nature Praying Without Words ." After his 1966 solo exhibition organized by the Cincinnati Art Museum (Ohio) in the United States, he continued to have numerous exhibitions in other major cities. It is estimated that 90% of his paintings were sold in the US market between the 1970s and 1990s.

Viewing the works at the exhibition "The Image of Horses in Le Ba Dang's Art ," art critic Ngo Kim Khoi expressed: "Today, Vietnamese viewers have the opportunity to see a considerable number of his works, each painting possessing a different color. The horse, long considered one of the most beautiful animals, has been presented by Le Ba Dang in various forms, capturing all the beauty of horses in a way that no Vietnamese artist can match. If the world once knew the Chinese painter Xu Beihong, who painted horses so beautifully and soulfully that they seemed to come out of the painting, then seeing Le Ba Dang's horse paintings, I find them equally impressive. The form, composition, and especially the way he creates the horse almost perfectly capture its beauty. Through the perspective of an artist like Le Ba Dang, the already beautiful horse becomes even more magnificent."

Driven by his passion for Vietnamese culture and art, Mr. Tran Thang has devoted considerable effort to collecting Vietnamese paintings, photographs, and ceramics, especially those by Le Ba Dang, since 2005. His collection encompasses a wide range of art forms. Currently, there is a Le Ba Dang Memorial Space in Hue , and collector Tran Thang hopes to establish a Le Ba Dang museum in Ho Chi Minh City to introduce the art of this talented painter to a wider audience of Vietnamese people and foreign tourists. The exhibition runs until March 30th.
