On January 14th, a delegation from the Command of Naval Region 5 visited, extended New Year greetings, and presented gifts to the forces and people of Hon Doc Island (Tien Hai commune, An Giang province), bringing the warmth of the mainland to this frontline island.

Hon Doc, also known as Hon Tre Lon, is located in Tien Hai commune, An Giang province. It is the largest of the 16 islands in the Hai Tac archipelago, approximately 20km from the mainland. The island covers an area of ​​about 11km2, with its highest point reaching 81m above sea level. Hon Doc Island holds a strategic position in terms of national defense and security, and has been identified as one of the key islands in the coastal island chain system in the southwestern sea region of Vietnam.

Along with the local Party committee and government, the island is also home to military forces such as Radar Station 625 of Regiment 551, Region 5 of the Navy; Tien Hai Border Guard Post, An Giang Provincial Military Command; Firepower Company 7 of Battalion 519, Regiment 893, Military Region 9; and Battalion 3 of Engineering Brigade 25, Military Region 9.

During their working trip to visit and extend New Year greetings to the southwestern islands, the delegation presented gifts and New Year wishes to the officers and soldiers of Radar Station 625 (551st Regiment), Tien Hai Border Guard Post, the commune police, as well as military units, schools, medical facilities , etc.
