Messi arrives in India, Inter Miami invites Suarez to extend contract

On his Instagram account, Messi officially confirmed that he will be traveling to India in December to participate in charity and exchange activities. At the same time, Inter Miami invited Suarez to extend his contract.

In an Instagram post on October 3, Messi wrote: "I am very honored to be making this trip in December. India is a very special country, and I have great memories there 14 years ago - the Indian fans are amazing.

Here, I will attend concerts, football training sessions with children, padel tournaments, and also launch charity initiatives at historic stadiums in Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi, and perhaps a few other cities as well."

Messi's arrival in India is scheduled for December 13-15, after he completes the 2025 season with Inter Miami (playing in the MLS Cup playoffs from October 22 to December 6).

This is Messi's return to India after 14 years, since he and the Argentina team played an international friendly in Kolkata, winning 1-0 against Venezuela in 2011.

Messi also joined Indian cricket legend Sourav Ganguly, footballer Bhaichung Bhutia and Olympic tennis medalist Leander Paes. The 38-year-old Argentinean also met top Bollywood actors.

According to the US press, before his trip to India, Messi will also soon complete signing a new contract with Inter Miami Club, including a 2-year extension and an option to extend for the next year, expected until the end of 2028.

Inter Miami also officially offered Messi's close friend, veteran striker Suarez, a contract extension for another year. Suarez is currently considering this offer.

Meanwhile, Inter Miami is also said to be involved in negotiations to sign Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann in the early 2026 transfer window.
