Harry Kewell is a familiar name to Vietnamese football fans. During his football career, he played 56 times for the Australian national team, scored 17 goals, and participated in two World Cups in 2006 and 2010.

At club level, Kewell made a deep impression in the Premier League when playing for Leeds United and Liverpool, winning the UEFA Champions League title in the 2004-2005 season and the FA Cup in the 2005-2006 season with the "Red Brigade".

Switching to coaching in 2017 after retiring at the age of 36, Harry Kewell has led many clubs in England such as Crawley Town, Notts County, Oldham Athletic and Barnet.

Notably, in 2022, he joined the coaching staff of Celtic (Scotland) as assistant head coach. In early 2024, Kewell became head coach of Yokohama F. Marinos (Japan) and helped the team win the runner-up position in the 2023-2024 AFC Champions League - the highest achievement of this club in the continental arena.

With an impressive resume as both a player and a coach, Harry Kewell is expected to bring modern football thinking, inspiration and improve the professional quality of the Hanoi club.

Recruiting a continental-class coach also shows the long-term development orientation of Hanoi club, aiming to build a modern, professional identity, ready to integrate and compete in international playgrounds.

Over the past two decades, Hanoi FC has achieved many outstanding achievements, becoming one of the most successful football teams in Vietnam. However, the team's leadership has always determined that the goal is not only to stop at the domestic arena but also to reach out to the Asian arena. The appointment of coach Harry Kewell is a strong affirmation of that aspiration.

This season, Hanoi FC has struggled, only gaining 8 points after 6 rounds, temporarily ranking 6th in the V-League. One of the reasons why the capital team is not playing well is due to the lack of stability on the coaching bench.

Immediately following the decision to appoint a new head coach, Mr. Yusuke Adachi - who had temporarily led the first team in the last three matches, will return to his position as the club's Technical Director.

The Japanese expert will continue to be in charge of strategic training, building a synchronous development orientation for both the first team and the youth training system at the Hanoi Youth Football Center.

The combination of an international-class coach and a solid domestic training foundation is expected to open a new development stage for Hanoi Football Club.
