'Thai Messi' speaks out after super goal from midfield

In the last minute of extra time of the second half, Chanathip scored a masterpiece with a long-range shot from midfield, beating Nguyen Filip and helping the home team come back to win 2-1.

After the match, Chanathip shared about his goal: "It was an accidental shot. I didn't think it would go in, the finish was a bit lucky. Without my teammates, I couldn't have done it. Thank you to my teammates and BG fans for coming to cheer us on and not abandoning us. Today, we fought for them, for each other and for the president."

In the last match, Chanathip was only brought on the field at the beginning of the second half when BG Pathum faced many difficulties. At the end of the first half, the home team was down to 10 men after Mateus Fornazari received a direct red card for a dangerous tackle on Bui Hoang Viet Anh.

"I called my mom after the match. Before the match, I thought that if I scored, I would call her. That's something I'm very lucky to be able to do," Chanathip added.

Thai press has given Chanathip much praise for his ability to maintain his class despite being 32 years old. The "Thai Messi" is the bright spot of BG Pathum, a team with inconsistent performance last season.
