Microsoft adds new Intel CPUs

This list currently includes chips that will run the latest available Windows client version, Windows 11 23H2 (aka Windows 11 2023 update).

Although many Intel CPUs were announced after AMD, they are already on the Windows 11 compatible hardware list.

The company has introduced several new Intel processor models, both for desktop and mobile devices.

However, Microsoft has made no changes to the AMD list. While it could be argued that no new AMD processors have been announced publicly since the last update in July and August, it is still surprising that Microsoft has added some newly released Intel CPUs from the Meteor Lake line, which was announced a week after AMD launched the AMD 8040 and 8050 lines. Like Meteor Lake, these new AMD CPUs also feature a Neural Processing Unit (NPU), a dedicated AI hardware processor that aims to accelerate AI-based tasks and the upcoming next-generation Windows (Windows 12).

This also means that the Ryzen 9 7945HX3D, AMD's first mobile processor with 3D V cache, is still missing from the list, although there are systems equipped with this chip, and Intel's unannounced CPUs like the Core i9-14900HX, Core i7-14700HX, and i7-14650HX are on the list.

Qualcomm's list of Windows 11 compatible processors remains unchanged, too.
