Microsoft has announced the expansion of Copilot with commercial data protection to more customers. Beginning in early 2024, all university faculty and students will be eligible to join Copilot with commercial data protection (formerly Bing Chat Enterprise). This will allow users to utilize Microsoft's AI-powered chat feature with access to GPT-4, DALL-E 3 image generator, and other features without needing to share prompts and responses with Microsoft for future model training. Access to Copilot with commercial data protection will require a school Microsoft account.
Microsoft expands Copilot access for students and faculty.
Microsoft says students can use Copilot to summarize papers, get step-by-step explanations, improve their writing skills, receive feedback on their work, brainstorm ideas, and more.
In addition to granting access to Copilot with commercial data protection features, Microsoft will soon offer Copilot for Microsoft 365 to instructors and staff. Starting January 1, 2024, education customers will be able to access Copilot for Microsoft 365 for $30 per user per month.
Microsoft also reminded customers of its commitment to customer copyright, ensuring they are protected from copyright claims when using the company's artificial intelligence.
