According to Neowin , Copilot is an AI-powered assistant from Microsoft that allows users to ask anything, quickly compose emails, write stories or scripts, summarize complex texts, and more. The service's best feature is that it runs on OpenAI's latest GPT-4, essentially giving users free access to the most powerful large language model (LLM), previously only available on the paid version of ChatGPT, ChatGPT Plus.
Copilot is now available for free on the App Store.
In addition, Copilot on iOS can also become an image creation tool to generate AI artwork directly on users' mobile devices. Therefore, Microsoft has brought OpenAI's DALL-E3 technology to the application.
Microsoft stated: "By combining the power of GPT-4 with the imaginative capabilities of DALL-E3, Copilot not only enhances your design workflow but can also take your creativity to inspiring new heights."
In addition to the mobile experience, users can also run the Copilot web service independently on desktops or laptops, even outside of the Edge browser.
This is Microsoft's latest move to push Copilot's wider reach to users across various product categories. In just the past two weeks, the company has added Copilot to Dev Tools in Edge to help developers troubleshoot issues, expanded its capabilities within the Microsoft 365 roadmap, launched a standalone app for Android, and made Copilot Chat widely available on GitHub.
Copilot is certainly a top priority for the company, as evidenced by Microsoft's comparison of the service's importance to the Start button in Windows, viewing it as "the access point to the world of AI on your PC."
