The National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting announced that a cold front is currently moving southward.
The National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting predicts that around early morning and throughout January 31st, a cold front will affect the Northeast region, then spread to the North Central, Northwest, and Central regions. Winds will shift to the Northeast at level 2-3, and level 3-4 along the coast. From the night of January 30th and throughout January 31st, the Northeast and North Central regions will experience rain, with scattered light rain.
From the afternoon of January 31st, the weather in the Northeast and North Central regions of Vietnam turned cold, with some mountainous areas in the North experiencing severe cold. The lowest temperatures were generally 12–15 degrees Celsius, 9–12 degrees Celsius in the mountainous areas of the Northeast, and below 8 degrees Celsius in some high mountainous areas.
In the Hanoi area, there will be rain, light and scattered rain, on the night of January 30th and the day of January 31st; from the afternoon of January 31st, the weather will turn cold, with the lowest temperature at 13–15 degrees Celsius.
At sea, from early morning and throughout January 31st, the Gulf of Tonkin will experience strong northeasterly winds of force 5, sometimes force 6, gusting to force 7-8; rough seas; waves 1.0-2.0m high.
In the northeastern part of the North East Sea, strong northeasterly winds of force 6, gusting to force 7-8, will cause rough seas with waves 2.0-4.0m high.
From February 1st, in the northern South China Sea (including the Paracel Islands), the sea area from Khanh Hoa to Ca Mau , and the western sea area of the southern South China Sea (west of the Spratly Islands), the northeast wind will gradually strengthen to level 6, gusting to levels 7-8; the sea will be rough; waves will be 2.0-4.0m high.
From the afternoon and evening of February 1st, the western sea area of the Central East Sea and the sea area from southern Quang Tri to Dak Lak will experience northeasterly winds of force 5, sometimes force 6, gusting to force 7-8; rough seas; waves 2.0-4.0m high.
From February 1st to the morning of February 4th, the area from Quang Tri to Da Nang City and the eastern parts of the provinces from Quang Ngai to Gia Lai will experience scattered rain and showers, with thunderstorms in some places.
