The South African-American beauty shared with Allure magazine after looking back at some old photos and noticing how her appearance has changed over time.
She said, "My face is changing, and I like this aging process. But many people think I've had plastic surgery. They're suspicious, like, 'What did she do to her face?' I emphasize that I'm just getting older. I haven't had any cosmetic surgery to maintain my youthful appearance, no facelift, no failed plastic surgery..."
And her current appearance
Charlize Theron further expressed that there's a common notion that older men enjoy fine wine while women prefer flower arranging and pruning. She disagrees with this notion, stating that women want to age in a way that suits them best, not conforming to stereotypes or long-held beliefs.
The actress also shared a funny story about her 11-year-old daughter seeing a commercial featuring her mother on the street. The little girl said, "Mom, you're not even wearing a shirt! My friends can all see this, so could you please put on a shirt?"
Charlize Theron spoke about gaining 22.6kg in three months to portray a pregnant character in the 2018 film "Tully." This is a type of role she is unable to play again in the future due to her age.
She recalled the arduous journey of gaining and losing weight to regain her old figure. "I was very heavy, both literally and figuratively. My spirit was also burdened and weary, just like the character had to go through. I wasn't well, I felt truly terrible," Charlize Theron recounted.
After finishing the role, it took her a year and a half to regain her normal weight.
