The organic rice production model in Cam Xuyen district ( Ha Tinh ) gives a profit of 620,000 VND/sao higher than traditional farming; at the same time, it contributes to soil improvement, environmental protection, human health protection, and creating safe products.
On the afternoon of September 6, in Cam Binh commune, Cam Xuyen district People's Committee held a workshop to evaluate the organic rice production model.
Cam Xuyen District Party Secretary Nguyen Van Thanh and delegates visited the organic rice production model in Binh Quang village, Cam Binh commune.
In the summer-autumn crop of 2023, Cam Xuyen district continues to implement the organic rice production model in Binh Quang village, Cam Binh commune with 31 participating households; scale of 8 hectares in the land accumulation area, large-scale concentrated production.
The model of producing high-quality rice varieties ST25 applies the tray seedling method, Kubuta transplanter according to Japanese technology; the planting density is 30cm between rows, 16cm between clumps, density is 22 clumps/m 2 . Before planting, the seedlings are planted for 15 days. From planting to harvest is about 97 - 102 days (depending on each field, soil preparation conditions).
With this method, seedlings can be planted about 5 days before the mass planting schedule; the harvest time is 5 days later than the mass planting. The rice plants grow and develop well compared to direct-sown rice in the control areas; the plants have many tillers, the leaves are firm and upright; the roots develop strongly and deeply.
Mr. Duong The Hoang - Director of Hoa Lac VRD Joint Stock Company: In the coming time, the unit will deploy a tray-planting center of about 2 hectares in Cam Xuyen district; expand the planting area to about 100 hectares in the communes that have accumulated land in the district; deploy a drying, milling and packaging system to improve the quality of local rice.
Through evaluation, the model gives an estimated yield of 2.4 - 2.7 quintals/sao. The investment cost between organic production and traditional production is not different.
In terms of economic efficiency, if Khang Dan 18 rice variety yields 2.8 quintals/sao, selling price 8,500 VND/kg (polished rice), ST25 rice variety yields 2.5 quintals/sao with selling price 12,000 VND/kg (polished rice). Accordingly, the economic efficiency of ST25 rice gives a profit 620,000 VND/sao higher than Khang Dan 18 rice. In particular, the production model according to organic processes contributes to soil improvement, environmental protection, human health protection, and creating safe products.
At the workshop, Chairman of Cam Xuyen District People's Committee Ha Van Binh highly appreciated the effectiveness of the organic rice production model. In the coming time, the district will continue to direct Cam Binh commune to deploy the organic rice production model on a scale of 30 hectares and work with the organic certification consulting unit to agree on the implementation roadmap.

In addition, communes and towns across the district organize propaganda and dissemination to let people know about the initial effectiveness of the organic rice production model; plan areas to focus on directing organic rice production in conjunction with the district's organic rice production project; build organic rice production models, moving towards organic standard production right in the locality to draw experience and direct replication.
