“No, at that time, nude painting was not encouraged. In the 70s, nude or abstract painting was also dangerous,” Mr. Luu Quoc Binh - son of painter Luu Cong Nhan said slowly. Mr. Binh also said that, even though every artist really wanted to show off their paintings, it was extremely rare for Mr. Nhan and a small group of friends to see newly created nude paintings. But now, many of the nude paintings created quietly like that by painter Luu Cong Nhan appear in the exhibition “Net” , taking place at the VCCA Contemporary Art Center, B1-R3 Vincom Royal City, Hanoi .
In this group of nude works, we can see the imprint of two different ways of exploiting the subject. First, he used Chinese ink to draw with free strokes. Such drawings evoke very graceful and powerful images.
In the remaining exploitation, he uses light and dark color blocks to create blocks, showing a meticulous drawing skill and gentle emotions. The model's face, whether sketched or realistic, has a calm look, the slightly slanted eyes are very Asian. He maintains that calmness through many materials, whether Chinese ink or oil paint.
More specifically, with his painting technique, they almost all create a transparent effect and very thin color spread as if using a light and easily floating material like watercolor. The nudes in his exhibition have many tones, also have different thickness of smooth material, but the transparency is always the same, unchanged. Perhaps, it originates from the artist's own vision.

Nude paintings are exhibited, nude photos are... waiting The Phuong exhibition with the theme of nude (nude) taking place from July 12-18 in Hanoi shows that cultural managers have a more open view of nude artwork.
Of course, the exhibition brings to the public many nude works, viewers also get to see Luu Cong Nhan, one of the representative painters of realist painting at that time, in some still life and landscape paintings. In particular, the painting Popular Education - a work rich in realism is also displayed here.
Mr. Le Thiet Cuong, curator of the exhibition, said that he selected 57 paintings from the 400-piece collection of collector Nguyen Phuc Huong. For nearly 10 years, pursuing his promise to painter Luu Cong Nhan himself - to bring paintings to an exhibition in Hanoi, Mr. Cuong traveled a lot and searched a lot. When he came across Mr. Huong's collection introduced by Mr. Nhan's son, Mr. Cuong was completely assured of the authenticity of the paintings. "He only collects paintings from one person. He buys paintings directly from the author. And in the end, he does not sell them," Mr. Cuong said.
Mr. Nhan's works are now mostly in collections in the South, where he worked until the end of his life. Therefore, Net is truly an opportunity for the public in the Capital, if they want to see Luu Cong Nhan's paintings.
