"Paving the way" for tourism development.

Việt NamViệt Nam18/09/2024

Transportation infrastructure is one of the key factors contributing to socio-economic development, including tourism, which is considered a leading economic sector in Binh Thuan. Therefore, the province places great emphasis on investing in transportation infrastructure to shorten travel time for tourists visiting Binh Thuan.

Transportation links from the highway to key tourist areas.

Upon completion and commissioning of the Phan Thiet – Dau Giay and Phan Thiet – Vinh Hao expressways, Binh Thuan immediately considered connecting these two expressways to the province's key tourist areas. Binh Thuan provincial leaders believe that transportation infrastructure is a crucial factor for the development of tourism in the province. Therefore, the province is actively investing in transportation infrastructure projects to further integrate and connect the existing transportation system, creating convenience for tourists traveling to the province's key tourist destinations. Alongside transportation infrastructure, the local authorities have been working alongside businesses and investors to implement comprehensive solutions to attract tourists and develop Binh Thuan tourism to its full potential. This is especially true when the transportation system connects to the province's key tourist areas, particularly the city of Phan Thiet. Phan Thiet plays an extremely important role in helping the city of Phan Thiet develop its socio-economic aspects, urban planning, and sustainable tourism development…

Most recently, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hong Hai chaired a meeting to hear a report on the investment plan for a road connecting the expressway to key tourist areas in Ham Thuan Nam district. Accordingly, the road will have its starting point at Km13+300 of the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressway in Tan Lap commune, Ham Thuan Nam district, and its end point at Km4+900 of the DT.712 road. Based on this, the Department of Transport has proposed two options for the road connecting the expressway to key tourist areas in Ham Thuan Nam district. Option 1 involves a route starting from the expressway interchange connecting to the existing DT.712 road intersecting with National Highway 1A at Km 1732+750 and following the existing DT.712 road to the project area, with a total length of approximately 8.4 km, comprising two sections (an extension of the DT.712 road connecting to the expressway with a length of approximately 3.5 km, and the renovation and upgrading of the existing DT.712 road with a length of approximately 4.9 km). Option 2: The route starts from the expressway interchange and intersects with National Highway 1A at Km 1733+325. It then runs parallel to the existing Provincial Road 712 and connects to it at Km 4+900 to the project area. This is a completely new route with a total length of approximately 8.1 km, comprising two sections: an extension of Provincial Road 712 connecting to the expressway (approximately 3.6 km); and a new section of Provincial Road 712 running parallel to the existing Provincial Road 712 and connecting to it at Km 4+900 to avoid existing residential areas at the beginning of the route, minimizing compensation and land clearance (approximately 4.5 km).

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hong Hai also requested the Department of Transport to coordinate with the Department of Planning and Investment and the People's Committee of Ham Thuan Nam district to add the investment project for the road connecting the expressway to key tourist areas in Ham Thuan Nam district to the Plan for implementing Decision No. 1701, dated December 27, 2023, of the Prime Minister approving the Binh Thuan Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, with the goal of connecting this project's road with the expressway and coastal road to key tourist areas of the province. The project list should be included in the provincial database for further implementation.

Further develop the intra-provincial transportation system.

Besides developing the transportation system connecting the expressway to key tourist areas of the province, Binh Thuan is currently working with central ministries and agencies to focus on investing in several important transportation projects within the province, especially the intra-provincial routes which have received significant investment and upgrading. To date, the Hoa Thang – Mui Ne coastal road and the Mui Ne – Phu Hai section have been completed and put into operation. Repair and upgrading of several sections of coastal roads and main transportation routes connecting to the province's tourist areas are continuing. The province is also directing a review and investment in several branch roads leading to the sea to better serve the needs of residents and tourists. Currently, the province is continuing to upgrade and expand sections of the coastal road from Phan Thiet to Mui Ne, and the DT.719 road from Ke Ga (Ham Thuan Nam) to La Gi. In addition, three provincial roads have requested central government funding for investment to prioritize urgent development: the DT.719B Phan Thiet – Ke Ga road, designed to be 25.4 km long and 16m wide, with a total investment of nearly 1,000 billion VND; the DT.719 Ke Ga – Tan Thien road, designed to be 32.4 km long and 8m wide, with a total investment of 600 billion VND; and the DT.711 road, starting at the intersection with National Highway 28 (Ham Thuan Bac) crossing National Highway 1A and ending at the intersection with the coastal DT.706B, 41 km long, with a total investment of 1,490 billion VND.

For Binh Thuan to become a national tourism hub, investing in improving transportation infrastructure is one of the prerequisites for maximizing all resources in society to create momentum for the development of tourism in Binh Thuan.
