Modric was brought on by coach Max Allegri in the 66th minute, replacing Samuele Ricci. Prior to that, he had a presentation ceremony with the other new signings at San Siro, alongside the Milan fans. The former Real Madrid star received a fervent welcome as he emerged from the tunnel before the match began.
In nearly 25 minutes on the pitch, Modric made a positive contribution to Milan's gameplay with an 88% pass accuracy rate, created 1 chance for a teammate, made 2 accurate long passes, and had 1 shot on target.
Before Modric came on, Milan were leading Bari 2-0 thanks to goals from Rafael Leao and Christian Pulisic. The San Siro side completely dominated their opponents due to the difference in quality across many positions. As a result, Modric had a relatively relaxed game.
Prior to the match against Bari, Modric also played 45 minutes in the friendly match against Chelsea, which they lost 1-4 on August 10th.
At the age of 39, Modric joined Milan on a free transfer after leaving Real Madrid. He created a sensation on his unveiling day on August 5th. Modric's ceremony was comparable to the atmosphere when former star Kaka returned to Milan in 2013.
The Croatian international aims to help Milan qualify for the 2026/27 Champions League, as well as compete for domestic titles.
