The project's starting point is at the intersection with National Highway 12C, connecting to the Ham Nghi-Vung Ang Expressway in Ky Hoa commune, Ha Tinh province, and its end point is in Bo Trach commune, Quang Tri province, linking to the Bung-Van Ninh Expressway.
Located in the former Ky Anh district and Ky Anh town of Ha Tinh province, this expressway traverses complex terrain such as hills and mountains, and crosses over a lake.
On August 19th, the Vung Ang-Bung section, one of the components of the North-South expressway project, will undergo technical opening to traffic in accordance with the directives of the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Construction .
After laying the asphalt concrete surface of the bridge, the contractor continued to complete the installation of the median strip and the construction of expansion joints. Hoa Binh 479 Joint Stock Company - the contractor for bridge number 1 - expects to complete all project items before the project is opened to traffic.
Most sections of the Vung Ang-Bung expressway have been equipped with guardrails, traffic lane markings, and traffic signs.
The Vung Ang-Bung expressway passes through hilly and mountainous terrain, so at locations at risk of landslides, measures to prevent subsidence and erosion are being implemented along the route.
The Deo But road tunnel, which runs through the Deo But mountain, is part of the Vung Ang-Bung expressway project.
These days, hundreds of engineers and workers are working overtime and rushing to complete the Vung Ang-Bung expressway project (part of the North-South Expressway construction project in the eastern region, phase 2021-2025) amidst the hot weather to meet the deadline for opening to traffic on August 19th.
The roads and viaducts leading to the Deo But tunnel have also been gradually completed with the installation of median strips, guardrails, road markings, traffic signs, and lighting systems.
The Deo But road tunnel has also had its lighting and safety features completed inside. The Deo But tunnel is nearly 1 km long with a design of two tunnel tubes, the left tube being 716m long and the right tube 840m long, each tunnel being 15m wide and 8m high.
But Pass is the only road tunnel along the more than 107km long eastern North-South Expressway through Ha Tinh province. The project was invested in by Project Management Board 6 (Ministry of Transport, now the Ministry of Construction).
The Deo But Tunnel – the most important section of the Vung Ang-Bung expressway – is nearly one kilometer long and cost over 1,000 billion VND to build. The tunnel, traversing the Dong Nang mountain range in Ha Tinh province, is designed with two tubes, with the centerline of the left tunnel 45 meters from the centerline of the right tunnel. The left tunnel is 716 meters long, and the right tunnel is 840 meters long, each 15 meters wide and 8 meters high.

When the Vung Ang-Bung expressway comes into operation, it will bring many great and multifaceted benefits; shortening travel time between Quang Binh, Ha Tinh provinces and the northern provinces. This will create extremely favorable conditions for trade, goods transportation and tourism development.
The highway, winding along the Kim Son reservoir (with a capacity of 17.5 million cubic meters), located in Ky Hoa commune, creates a picturesque and magnificent landscape.
Bridge No. 1, approximately 942 meters long, is a large bridge spanning a rugged mountainous area, featuring many tall piers and crossing a deep valley. It is considered one of the most challenging components of the project to construct.
The overpass across Kim Son Lake offers stunning scenery on the Vung Ang-Bung Expressway at sunset.
The bridge, consisting of 22 spans with piers ranging from 30-50m in height and nearly 1km in length, connects two hills and spans a rugged, basin-shaped valley.
The Vung Ang-Bung highway passes through a magnificent and breathtaking landscape.
Projects and works to celebrate the 80th anniversary of National Day.
