Speaking at the reception, the Chief Prosecutor of the Supreme People's Procuratorate, Nguyen Huy Tien, expressed his pleasure in welcoming Ambassador Ha Wei, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Vietnam, and the members of his delegation to visit and work at the Supreme People's Procuratorate of Vietnam. He also highly appreciated the Ambassador's important bridging role in actively and proactively coordinating with Vietnamese ministries, departments, and localities to promote the strong development of bilateral relations in recent years.

In his overall assessment of the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and China, Supreme People's Procuratorate Chief Prosecutor Nguyen Huy Tien affirmed that Vietnam and China are two neighboring socialist countries with a long-standing tradition of friendly cooperation. 2025 marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

To mark this momentous occasion, the two General Secretaries launched the "Vietnam-China Humanistic Exchange Year," featuring numerous vibrant exchange and cooperation activities. The highest-ranking leaders of both countries maintained regular meetings and reached many important common understandings.

Building on that solid political foundation, cooperation mechanisms between the two sides have been increasingly improved in recent years, transportation connectivity has been strengthened, and trade, investment, people-to-people exchanges, local connections, and cooperation between ministries and sectors have all developed strongly.

Cooperation in the legal and judicial fields has also yielded many noteworthy results, making a positive contribution to strengthening the legal foundation and ensuring a stable and healthy environment for bilateral cooperation.

Comrade Nguyen Huy Tien also summarized the results of cooperation between the Supreme People's Procuratorates of Vietnam and China in the past period.

Accordingly, the Supreme People's Procuratorates of the two countries signed the first Cooperation Agreement in 2000; it was amended and supplemented twice in 2012 and 2017, and has now been in effect for exactly 25 years.

Currently, this Cooperation Agreement and the Agreement on Mutual Legal Assistance in Civil and Criminal Matters between Vietnam and China, signed in 1998, are the two most fundamental and important cooperation documents for the People's Procuratorates of the two countries to implement friendly bilateral cooperation activities and cooperate in combating crime.

Over the past 25 years, the cooperative relationship between the People's Procuratorates of the two countries has developed very strongly, becoming increasingly profound and practical.

Both sides regularly organize exchanges of delegations at all levels, from central to local, to exchange and share experiences in procuratorial work; at the same time, they jointly build, maintain, and contribute to the development of many important cooperation mechanisms.

In 2025, in conjunction with the celebrations of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and other major holidays, and actively responding to the Vietnam-China Humanitarian Exchange Year, the Supreme People's Procuratorates of the two countries also coordinated and implemented many important cooperation activities, thereby practically commemorating the 25th anniversary of the signing of the first Cooperation Agreement between the two sides.

The results of cooperation are demonstrated through the exchange of delegations; cooperation in combating cross-border crime through mutual legal assistance in criminal matters; cooperation between People's Procuratorates of localities; and cooperation in the field of training and professional development of prosecutors.

Particularly in early July 2025, in response to the Vietnam-China Humanitarian Exchange Year 2025, the Supreme People's Procuratorates of the two countries successfully coordinated and organized the first Vietnam-China Procuratorate Friendship Sports Festival in Nanning, Guangxi.

Notably, a prominent result of cooperation between the People's Procuratorates of the two countries in recent times is demonstrated by the fact that in June 2025, the Vietnamese National Assembly issued Resolution No. 205/2025/QH15 on piloting the initiation of civil lawsuits by the People's Procuratorate to protect the civil rights of vulnerable groups or to protect public interests.

This is a significant result of the cooperation between the People's Procuratorates of Vietnam and China after nearly five years of research and exchange of experience on piloting and implementing China's public service procuracy system. Resolution 205/2025/QH was issued with strong support, information sharing, and experience exchange from Chinese procuracy colleagues.

Presenting several suggestions and proposals for cooperation between the two countries' procuratorial sectors in the coming period related to digital transformation; training and development of procuratorial staff; maintaining the mechanism of exchange of delegations at all levels; strengthening cooperation between local procuratorial offices, especially those in provinces sharing a common border… Comrade Nguyen Huy Tien wished the Ambassador continued success in his term in Vietnam, thereby making positive contributions to strengthening and consolidating the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two Parties and States of Vietnam and China.

Speaking at the reception, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Vietnam, He Wei, expressed his pleasure at visiting the Supreme People's Procuratorate of Vietnam; and thanked Chief Procurator Nguyen Huy Tien and the staff of the Supreme People's Procuratorate for taking the time to welcome the Ambassador and members of the delegation.

Expressing delight at the long-standing traditional friendly cooperative relationship between the two countries, Ambassador Ha Wei also informed about the outstanding achievements of China, reviewing the results of cooperation in various fields between the two countries, and the reform of the Chinese procuracy system in recent years.

Agreeing with the direction of cooperation outlined by the Chief Prosecutor of the Supreme People's Procuratorate, Nguyen Huy Tien, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Vietnam, Ha Wei, expressed his confidence and affirmed that, in his capacity, he would do his utmost to further strengthen and deepen the cooperative relationship between the two countries, between the law enforcement agencies and procuratorates of the two countries, thereby contributing to enhancing comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and China.
