Every book is a pride

Book introduction contest "Revolutionary Path".

Mr. Tran Truong Gia Bao, Member of the Standing Committee of the School Youth Union, Secretary of the Youth Union of the Faculty of Political Science, Deputy Organizing Committee of the contest, said: “This is the first time the School Youth Union - Student Association has organized a contest and it was successful beyond expectations. The contest contributes to raising awareness of union members and young people about the important role of political theory books in orienting ideology, building a solid theoretical foundation; strengthening education on revolutionary ideals, ethics, and lifestyle for students. We will continue to organize the contest in the following years”.

Out of 34 teams in the qualifying round (multiple choice test on computer), the 4 best teams, including: Faculty of Political Science, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Natural Sciences and University of Economics were selected to compete in the final ranking round at the end of May. Each team went through 2 rounds: promoting and introducing a book within the scope specified by the Organizing Committee and promoting and introducing a book of the team's own choice.

In the compulsory part, the four teams introduced the classic works: “Lenin’s Complete Works”, “K. Marx and F. Engels’s Complete Works”, “ Ho Chi Minh’s Complete Works”, “Party Documents”. In the optional part, the teams promoted the books: “The South is the Fatherland’s Citadel”, “The Revolutionary Path”, “From Ben Hai River to the Independence Palace”, “Resolutely and persistently fight against corruption and negativity, contributing to building our Party and State increasingly clean and strong”.

Each team grasped the key issues and core content of each work to promote it in the most concise and easy-to-understand way. In addition, with the form of dramatization, animation, illustrated singing and dancing, images on the LED screen, etc., the performances became lively and attractive, contributing to spreading the value of the works and reading culture; arousing the desire to contribute, love for the homeland and country in students of Can Tho University. Tang Chi Dang, a student of the Faculty of International Business, shared: “I like reading books, so I came to watch the contest and found the teams very good. After watching, I felt proud and loved my homeland more. I was impressed with the animation illustrating the book “Resolutely and persistently fight against corruption and negativity, contributing to building our Party and State increasingly clean and strong” because the script was good and meaningful, talking about the price to pay for corrupt and negative behavior, highlighting the content and theme of the book. The book I like is “The Revolutionary Path” by President Ho Chi Minh. When I studied Ho Chi Minh Thought, I heard about it. Now that I have heard about it from my friends, I will go to the library to borrow this book to read to better understand the work.”

To have a complete and perfect performance on stage, the teams prepared and practiced carefully, from content to performance form. In addition to carefully studying the content of the book for propaganda, each team also staged skits, singing and dancing, detailed illustrative props, etc. Student Phan Thi Huynh Nho, a member of the Youth Union of the Faculty of Political Science, confided: "Although the preparation time was not much, all members of the team were very united and tried to overcome all difficulties. The result of winning First Prize is a great encouragement for us. I hope that this enthusiasm and result will be continued by students of the next course in the next competitions."

Ms. Pham Vu Phuong Linh, Head of Department, Director of the Truth National Political Publishing House branch in Can Tho, member of the Jury, commented: “The teams all have their own characteristics, they basically followed the theme of the contest. Many teams introduced very well, achieved high scores, moved viewers; created an effect in enhancing education on revolutionary ideals, ethics, and lifestyle for young people. Notably, 7/8 of the books they introduced were published by Truth National Political Publishing House. This is also a joy and pride for those of us working in publishing.”
