Math ensures proper structure and differentiation

As the first year organized according to the 2018 General Education Program, this year's Math exam has a fundamental innovation with 22 multiple choice questions in three formats: Choose the correct option (A, B, C, D); choose true - false and short answer. In previous years, the exam only had one multiple choice test format.

Notably, this year the scoring method for true-false questions has changed a lot: Each question consists of 4 small ideas, if the candidate chooses 1 idea correctly, they will get 0.1 point; 2 ideas correctly, they will get 0.25 points; 3 ideas correctly, they will get 0.5 points and only when they get all 4 ideas correct will they get 1 point.

After finishing the exam, most candidates, when asked, said that the Math exam was completely within the knowledge they had learned, had practiced, and followed the sample exam structure of the Ministry of Education and Training that they had been familiar with before.

The exam also ensures differentiation so that students who only take the graduation results can achieve the required graduation score; students with good academic performance and taking Math as a subject in the university and college admission combination will have higher results.

As for independent candidates taking the exam under the 2006 General Education Program, the exam still follows the old structure with 50 multiple-choice questions. According to the candidates, there will still be about 30 to 40 questions at the level of recognition, understanding, and common application; 10 questions at the high application level for candidates to get points for university and college admission.

According to a quick report from the Examination Council of the Department of Education and Training of Quang Ninh , the Math exam on the afternoon of June 26 had 19,773 candidates taking the exam out of a total of 19,930 registered candidates, the exam attendance rate was 99.21%. There were 157 absent candidates, not participating in the exam, of which 59 candidates were exempted from the exam, 57 candidates were sick and did not take the exam and 41 candidates dropped out. No candidates or individuals participating in the organization of the exam violated the exam regulations. The exam supervision work of the Examination Council was organized seriously, safely, and in accordance with regulations. The exam took place safely, without any unusual incidents.

Thus, after the first day of the exam, the candidates have completed the two compulsory subjects: Literature and Mathematics. Tomorrow, June 27, candidates taking the exam under the 2018 General Education Program will take the exam of two optional subjects, ending the exam. Independent candidates taking the exam under the 2006 General Education Program will take one of the two exams: Natural Science or Social Science in the morning and Foreign Language in the afternoon.
