Narendra Modi will visit Austria from July 9-10, marking the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the Central European country in 41 years.

Sharing on social media on July 7th, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized his honor to visit Austria for the first time next week, to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries (November 10, 1949 - November 10, 2024).
Expressing his gratitude to his Austrian counterpart Karl Nehammer, Modi said he "looks forward to our discussions on strengthening relations between the two countries and exploring new avenues of cooperation."
The Indian leader's "emotional response" was in reply to Prime Minister Karl Nehammer's post on X- Net the previous day. He expressed his expectation to welcome Prime Minister Modi to Vienna and affirmed that the first visit to Austria by the head of the Indian government was a "significant milestone," an opportunity to discuss deepening bilateral relations and closer cooperation on "many geopolitical challenges."
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs announced that Modi will meet with President Alexander Van der Bellen and hold talks with Prime Minister Karl Nehammer. The two Prime Ministers will also address Indian and Austrian business leaders.
Austria was the second destination on Prime Minister Modi's three-day tour (September 7-10). Prior to that, Prime Minister Modi visited Moscow to attend the 22nd Russia-India Summit.
This is Prime Minister Modi's first visit to Russia in almost five years. His last visit to the country was in 2019 when he attended a major economic forum in the Far Eastern city of Vladivostok.
