Media boost

In 2023, the province focused on completing and upgrading infrastructure, transportation, urban areas, and tourism services… especially putting into operation the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet and Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressways, creating leverage for the development of the tourism industry in particular and the economy of Binh Thuan province in general. This aims to realize the goals of Resolution No. 08-NQ/TW, dated January 16, 2017, of the Politburo and Resolution No. 06-NQ/TU, dated October 24, 2021, of the Provincial Party Committee on the development of tourism in Binh Thuan until 2025, with a vision to 2030, with the plan to make tourism one of the three economic pillars of the province.

This event helped Binh Thuan create a buzz and a media boost nationwide. According to the Provincial People's Committee report, there were more than 700 news articles about the Opening Ceremony and activities of the 2023 National Tourism Year, with a peak of over 532 articles published on online newspapers, magazines, specialized websites, and general information websites from January 1, 2023 to March 29, 2023. In addition, there were more than 4,000 posts on Facebook and YouTube; more than 1,000 news articles, reports, features, columns, and diary programs about all activities of the 2023 National Tourism Year broadcast on television and radio channels and posted on the social media platforms of newspapers and broadcasting stations. The 2023 National Tourism Year website provided a lot of information and images about the event to the people and tourists. The website attracted over 138,668 visits. In addition, the establishment of a press center attracted approximately 120 journalists, reporters, editors, cameramen, technicians, etc., from more than 50 news agencies and media outlets nationwide. More than 20 provinces and centrally-governed cities posted information about the 2023 National Tourism Year on their provincial electronic information portals, creating a widespread and positive impact in many provinces and cities. The 2023 National Tourism Year promoted and disseminated tangible and intangible cultural values, resources, and unique, novel tourism products to domestic and international friends and tourists. The activities were organized in accordance with the registered objectives, featuring unique and attractive content on an inter-provincial, national, and international scale throughout 2023. These activities contributed to opening a new phase in tourism cooperation with other countries, connecting with tourism businesses, and promoting the expansion of the tourist market in the ASEAN region, Asia, and the world .

Strong socio -economic development impact

Thanks to the series of unique and innovative events during the 2023 National Tourism Year, showcasing the distinctive strengths of Binh Thuan province, the tangible and intangible cultural values, resources, and unique tourism products have been disseminated to domestic and international friends and tourists. In particular, it has raised awareness about green tourism development and contributed to further enhancing the position and image of Binh Thuan province, thereby promoting tourism recovery and development.

Mr. Bui The Nhan, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, acknowledged: "Based on the positive results of the National Tourism Year 'Binh Thuan - Green Convergence,' we are striving to advise and implement many of the province's plans. Firstly, we are urgently advising the competent authorities to approve the planning for the Mui Ne National Tourist Area until 2040, with a vision to 2050. This is an important basis for attracting strategic investors and large enterprises to cooperate with the province in the tourism sector."

Simultaneously, it is urgent to advise on the formation of the Mui Ne National Tourist Area's administrative structure to ensure smooth and synchronized management, creating the best conditions for investment and commercial service activities. Strengthen and improve the quality of existing tourism products and services, and encourage businesses to innovate and invest in new types of services to meet the evolving needs of tourists, especially foreign visitors and those from the northern provinces.

Binh Thuan's success during the 2023 National Tourism Year contributed to the overall success of Vietnamese tourism with breakthroughs. The total number of Vietnamese tourists reached over 100 million, and international tourists reached over 12 million. Binh Thuan was among the 9 provinces and cities nationwide that achieved tourism revenue of 10,000 billion VND or more, thus making a significant contribution to the total revenue of Vietnam's tourism industry, which was approximately 343,100 billion VND.

Mr. Bui The Nhan affirmed that he will continue to work with the local community to pilot tourism development, spreading cultural and community values into tourism services, such as traditional festivals of the people of Binh Thuan, tourist destinations, and aspects of daily life and production activities of the people. Accordingly, visitors must be welcomed with a new mindset, creating a new harmony between the people and tourists.

At the same time, we need to strengthen cooperation and promote tourism further outside the province, the region, and foreign markets. These are fundamental issues to continue the success of the National Tourism Year. The National Tourism Year is about to conclude with great achievements. These results have had a strong impact on the socio-economic development of Binh Thuan, bringing tourism revenue to over 20,000 billion VND. This creates opportunities for strategic investors to see the potential and advantages of investing in Binh Thuan tourism. Therefore, they will work with the province to survey, research, and propose ideas to elevate sustainable tourism, aiming for Binh Thuan to become a destination in the Asia-Pacific region in the future.

The National Tourism Year has given a strong impetus to local tourism businesses, allowing them to see this strong development and be ready to continue investing, expanding existing products, and seeking new products to better serve tourism development. In particular, people involved in tourism, whether directly or indirectly, see this overall development and find opportunities for themselves. These are powerful ripple effects for future development. Therefore, we also need the attention of central ministries and agencies to create open and effective mechanisms and policies, helping Binh Thuan tourism become a bright spot in the future.
