(CLO) This morning (November 1st), the Vietnam Journalists Association organized a seminar and exhibition on the theme "Journalist and Diplomat Ly Van Sau: A Heart of Unwavering Loyalty". The event aimed to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 – June 21, 2025), the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Journalists Association (April 21, 1950 – April 21, 2025), and the 100th anniversary of the birth of journalist Ly Van Sau (November 5, 1924 – November 5, 2024).


The event consists of two parts: a seminar and a thematic exhibition on journalist and diplomat Ly Van Sau – a dedicated writer, a loyal and devoted follower of the Party and the People, and a journalist who made many contributions to the revolutionary press. Journalist Tran Kim Hoa – Head of the Vietnam Press Museum – shared: “The seminar and thematic exhibition on Mr. Ly Van Sau is expected to be a major gathering with many prominent figures and important guests. This is a wonderful opportunity for us to gain more understanding and valuable materials in the process of honoring a generation of exemplary journalists who made many contributions to the revolutionary press of Vietnam!”

The panel discussion will feature speakers including current and former leaders of the Party, State, and military, representatives from media agencies, history and diplomacy experts, and veteran journalists such as Ha Dang, Pham Quang Nghi, Viet Tung, Phan Khac Hai, Ton Nu Thi Ninh, Tran Duc Nuoi, ​​Nguyen The Ky, and representatives from the Cuban Embassy… who will present their papers.

The exhibition features 100 documents, artifacts, and images displayed on 10 walls and 5 display cabinets related to the life and career of journalist-diplomat Ly Van Sau, highlighting his contributions to revolutionary journalism and Vietnamese diplomacy in the struggle for national liberation, defense of the homeland, and nation-building. Notable examples include documents, artifacts, and images from the time Ly Van Sau worked in Cuba, at the Paris Conference 1968-1973, notebooks, and his journalistic activities.

The exhibition and seminar aim to honor journalist Ly Van Sau – one of the exemplary figures who made worthy contributions to the development of revolutionary Vietnamese journalism. Throughout his life as a journalist, he made many contributions in the field of information and propaganda, foreign affairs, and the development of the broadcasting and television industry and news agencies; leaving many important marks on the political and diplomatic fronts serving the cause of national liberation, reunification, and the revolutionary Vietnamese press.

The program will be held on the 3rd floor of the Vietnam Journalists Association building, Duong Dinh Nghe Street, Yen Hoa Ward, Cau Giay District, Hanoi.

Journalist Ly Van Sau (1924 – 2012) was one of the intellectual journalists who dedicated the best years of his life to revolutionary ideals, to the struggle for national independence and nation-building. During the two wars of resistance against France and the United States, he co-founded the Thang Newspaper at the young age of 22 (1946); contributed to the early establishment of the Voice of the South Radio and the Voice of the Southern Radio; and became an outstanding spokesperson for the delegation of the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam in Paris (1968-1973). After the reunification of the country, he remained involved in press management and professional activities of the Vietnam Journalists Association, becoming a veteran leader of Vietnam Television, Vietnam Radio, and the Vietnam News Agency, and continued to make significant contributions in the field of diplomacy.
