According to Neowin , dubbed CLAW, this MSI handset will be one of the most powerful gaming devices on the market upon release. This stems from the power of Intel's Core Ultra 7 155H CPU, a 16-core/22-thread chip with 6 high-performance cores, 8 mid-performance cores, and 2 power-efficient cores. Graphics will be handled by the Arc Alchemist GPU with 8 Xe cores that can boost up to 2.25 GHz.
Initial leaks also revealed CLAW's benchmark performance, showing a single-core score of 2403 and a multi-core score of 11543. This also suggests that CLAW's integrated Intel Arc graphics are capable of performing better than AMD's RDNA3 found in competing handheld gaming devices. This is good news for Intel as it looks to enter the mobile gaming market.
Other leaks confirm that CLAW will have 32GB of RAM, double the memory of devices like the AYN Odin Pro and Steam Deck. However, MSI may offer different RAM configurations to suit users' budgets and needs.
The biggest question mark surrounding the MSI CLAW is its operating system. It could follow in the footsteps of Asus and Lenovo by running Windows 11, or it could run a Linux-based operating system like Steam Deck.
Meanwhile, MSI has released a sneak peek of its upcoming handheld gaming PC via social media, promising to expand the company's gaming portfolio beyond laptops. The short clip shows two offset joysticks surrounded by RGB lighting, vents on either side, and the company's gaming logo on the back.
