According to reports in the British press, Manchester United have contacted Ruben Neves' agent directly, as the club is looking to strengthen its midfield in the 2026 transfer window.
Manchester United have shown improvement in recent weeks, climbing to sixth place in the Premier League table. However, the absence of captain Bruno Fernandes due to injury adds to manager Amorim's problems.

The Portuguese manager is urging the club's leadership to reach an agreement with Ruben Neves as soon as the winter transfer window opens.
According to expert Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United have also begun negotiations with Neves' representatives regarding transfer and salary.
If both sides reach an agreement, the Manchester team will officially contact Al-Hilal, the club that owns the Portuguese star.
Ruben Neves joined Al-Hilal from Wolves in the summer of 2023 for a fee of nearly £50 million. After 107 appearances and 14 goals for the top Saudi Arabian club, Neves is considering a return to Europe.
Since his contract with Al-Hial only runs until June 2026, Ruben Neves could leave this coming winter for a fee of just £10 million.
According to Defensa Central, Neves himself is willing to take a 66% pay cut from his current salary (almost £16 million per year) to fulfill his wish to return to England to play football.
At 28 years old, Ruven Neves can still play at the highest level for many more years. His past experience playing for Wolves will help him adapt relatively easily when he moves to Manchester United.
