Several reputable newspapers in England have simultaneously confirmed that Manchester United are close to successfully signing Ederson for a fee of £35 million. This will be manager Michael Carrick's first signing at Old Trafford.

The Brazilian midfielder is seen as a suitable addition to Manchester United's midfield rebuilding efforts following Casemiro's departure and Manuel Ugarte's imminent sale. According to experts, Ederson is not a purely defensive midfielder but rather an energetic, versatile player capable of contributing to both defense and attack.

South American football expert Tim Vickery believes Ederson's playing style is quite similar to Newcastle's Bruno Guimaraes. Commenting on BBC , Vickery suggested that the Atalanta midfielder is more energetic than Ugarte, and is also adept at ball control and escaping pressure.

“Ederson is a midfielder similar to Guimaraes. After three impressive seasons with Atalanta, he deserves the opportunity to move to a bigger club. Old Trafford demands strong personalities, and Ederson has the character to adapt to that high-pressure environment,” Vickery commented.

To directly replace Casemiro, MU are targeting Sandro Tonali, Carlos Baleba, and Elliot Anderson, all of whom could immediately become starters if they move to Old Trafford.
