Summer without pressure

Summer has just arrived, many parents are rushing to make summer plans for their children: extra classes, skill camps, foreign language clubs, chess, martial arts... The schedule is packed from morning to night, making children no different from a "big boss", busy during the holidays.

For many people, summer is a precious time to break through, learn more, practice skills and speed up the learning race. But there are also many people who believe that summer should be returned to its true meaning: Time for children to live their true age, to play, to explore , to relax.

So, do parents ask themselves, what do children want? Or in the whirlwind of expectations, pressure and fear of leaving their children behind, have we forgotten to listen to our children's voices? Is it possible that what children need is not a summer with a tight schedule, but mornings of sleeping in, afternoons of leisurely cycling around the neighborhood, evenings of playing games or reading books with the family under warm yellow lights? Is it possible that what children truly desire is simply a summer in its true sense - free, carefree and filled with laughter?

In developed countries, students have a nearly 3-month summer vacation, are not forced to take extra classes, but are encouraged to go out into nature, read books of their choice, and manage their own time as a lesson in independence. In Vietnam, many children are busy with extra classes all summer, going through 3-4 classes a day, with little time to rest and be creative. Many children are attached to screens, lacking interaction and guidance, letting the summer pass quietly and tiredly.

The key is not the quantity of activities, but the quality of experiences. Sometimes, a few days back to the countryside, living without wifi, cooking with grandma, bathing in the river, playing with the kids in the neighborhood, are more vivid in the memory. An afternoon taking the bike to the end of the alley to fix it with dad, planting a few pots of plants by hand is also a practical life skill lesson, no diploma or certificate needed.

Don't let “personal development” become an invisible pressure. Before choosing a class for your child, ask: What does your child really need to grow up?

A healthy summer does not mean indulging, living without moderation, and being attached to electronic devices. But it should not become a second copy of the school year. Most practically, it is when children live in a safe environment, are listened to, and are regarded as separate individuals. They are allowed to freely try - make mistakes - explore. They grow up, not as an "investment project", but as a human being.

A true summer is not measured by how many extra classes are taken, but by how many times children smile when reminding their own childhood.
