Dismantling of a stranded ship has begun off the coast of Khanh Hoa province.

This is the ship that ran aground in 2023, and it has become a popular check-in spot for travel enthusiasts in recent times.

However, due to the ship's deterioration over time, local authorities have placed warning signs prohibiting residents and tourists from approaching it.

Many parts of the ship were disassembled.

Previously, on February 26, 2023, the Thành Hưng 06 vessel, while en route from Nhơn Trạch port (Đồng Nai province) to Cam Ranh port (Khánh Hòa province), lost its rudder, drifted, and ran aground on the mossy beach of Từ Thiện village, Phước Dinh commune, Thuận Nam district (formerly Ninh Thuận province), now Phước Dinh commune, Khánh Hòa province.

The ship, stranded for over two years, has suffered serious damage.

Since then, this ship – owned by Thanh Hung Real Estate Company Limited (Ho Chi Minh City) – has been neglected and is in serious disrepair.

On April 14, 2025, the vessel was handed over to the winning bidder by the Civil Enforcement Sub-Department of Thuan Nam District (formerly Ninh Thuan Province) for dismantling and salvage.

The ship dismantling process was carried out cautiously and safely.

Mr. Tran Nguyen Trung Dung, representative of the ship dismantling unit, said that since mid-June 2025, they have coordinated with functional forces to inspect the oil tanks and pump out any remaining fuel to prevent marine environmental pollution. The dismantling and salvage of the ship will be carried out in stages, ensuring safety and minimizing environmental impact.
