The joy of settling down from Program 1719

As a disadvantaged commune in Zone III, Ea Rốk commune still faces many socio-economic difficulties, with many poor and near-poor households living in dilapidated, leaky, and substandard temporary houses.

Using funds from the National Target Program for Socio -Economic Development of Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas (Program 1719) for the period 2021-2025, Ea Rốk commune has implemented housing support for disadvantaged households. Accordingly, the commune has developed a plan and directed villages and hamlets to review and prioritize eligible recipients. Each village and hamlet held meetings to gather opinions and suggestions from residents, then compiled a list and submitted it to the Commune People's Committee for consideration.

Based on this, the commune established a team to conduct on-site inspections of each household to ensure that the disbursed funds reached the intended recipients. For cases with remaining obstacles or difficulties related to procedures and required documents, the Commune People's Committee directed relevant departments to provide guidance and support. During the house construction process, the Party Committee and the Commune People's Committee directed the Fatherland Front, mass organizations, and mobilized the commune police and militia forces to accompany, support, and encourage the families. This approach helped the households receiving housing support to feel confident and contribute additional funds to complete their houses, ensuring quality and timely completion.

Thanks to funding from Program 1719, Ms. Ha Thi Vinh's family was able to build a new house.

In 2025, thanks to funding from various programs and projects, Ea Rok commune received support for 617 houses, of which 26 were under Program 1719 alone, and have been completed and handed over to households for use.

The family of Ms. Ha Thi Vinh (of the Thai ethnic group, residing in Hamlet 6, Ia Jloi) is one of the households receiving housing support from Program 1719. As a poor household in the hamlet, Ms. Vinh's family, comprising three generations and 10 people, lived in an old, increasingly cramped and dilapidated wooden house, but lacked the means to repair or upgrade it. Therefore, when they received 50 million VND in housing support under Program 1719, Ms. Vinh's family was very excited and decided to borrow an additional 40 million VND in preferential credit from the Social Policy Bank and also borrow from relatives to build a 66 m2 house.

Officials from the Culture and Social Affairs Department of Ea Rốk commune (on the left) share the joy of having a new house with Mr. Hồ Văn Hoàng's family.

The joy of receiving housing assistance also came to the family of Mr. Ho Van Hoang in Hamlet 6, Ia Jloi. Previously, his family lived in an old, dilapidated wooden house in a rubber plantation. Whenever it rained heavily, water would splash into the house, and wherever there were leaks, Mr. and Mrs. Hoang had to use old corrugated iron and planks to temporarily repair them.

After many years, the couple finally saved enough money to buy a plot of land, but they haven't had the means to build a house yet.

After being selected by the village to receive a 50 million VND housing subsidy under Program 1719, the couple borrowed additional funds to build a decent house. For their family, the housing support policy from Program 1719 has truly been a driving force for them to improve their lives and achieve stability.
